Wood Green chitter-chatter..

I was passing last night and went in for a look. Very pretty waiting room with several sockets you could use while you wait. Also a smaller "community room" space for use.

Annoyingly it's all an inaccessible station so you have to be able to deal with a lot of stairs to get there.

That Model Traffic Area was still in operation, including bicycles for hire, when my partner was growing up - I think that's where she and her brothers first learnt to ride bikes
Thr one amusing bit in the clip that stands out is 'they have to cross traffic to get to the playground'
Quite ahead of times, in the 30s

I’m off to a mid afternoon rugby match with a couple of mates next month at the Tottenham stadium.

If I was going to walk from Wood Green tube, which is where my digs will be, are there any decent pubs along the route I could make into a pub crawl?

Long walk! There’s a direct bus from there to the stadium. W3. And the pubs with a fun atmosphere for whatever the event is will be the ones nearest the ground. It’s years since I’ve drunk at WHL or NWHL, so all my knowledge is out of date, but plenty of people on the Spurs thread will be able to advise.

The NWHL concourse is quite something, especially the south stand, and the beer isn’t extortionately priced from what I understand.

Beavertown in the ground. amazing stadium, it has to be said.
try the Antwerp Arms on Church Road if you walk over from your side.

Yeah I checked the bus, it’s handy as an option but the walk is only 45 mins.

I have a look at the football forum perhaps will need to take it off ignore

Cheers

And will also note the Antwerp arms cheers pbsmooth

What was the building behind the bus. Another tube entrance?

And I prefer trees to a Nando’s

I think it was public toilets, though it's a little before my time.

Barclay's Bank is still on the corner, but I'm curious about Hector Macdonald Ltd next door.

My partner lived the first few years of her life in a flat in Lordship Lane a little to the right of that photo. Maybe she will remember...

The seating in the second photo is very 1970s high street.. we had the same in my home town. It seems to have got removed at some point
