Witness Appeal: Serious Assault, Oxford Street Mar 9th

You win some, you lose some.

All I know is that the case was considered sufficently strong by the CPS to take it to court and the Judge threw it out.

What I objected to on this thread was the assumption that because the person arrested was a cyclist and able to use Twitter that somehow that exonerated them of being 'guilty'. There was a prosecution witness so I guess not everybody thought the cyclist to be innocent but thats how these things go.

because and it's been shown not that the story the cyclist told stank but because the police lied and then covered up their own arses later on when they failed to take witness statements and the Taxi driver lied when he said they were attacked first...

stop wriggling and get off the thread you absolute shower of a poster...

they do each other favours innit

I think it's far more likely that the copper in question thought nothing will happen regarding this and it'll be fine the cyclist isn't hurt the cps won't be arse I'm not committing to the 3 hours of paper work this is gonna take if I get a witness statement or details that's my day ruined... if I calm them all down... they'll all piss off...

but in any case if it's police corruption and collusion to pervert the course of justice then this will be uncovered in the IPCC at which point your mate can sue...

I'd seriously suggest that they press charges at this point. The alternative is that had no one come forward your mate could be in jail for 2 at present...

Well done to your mate.

I still cannot believe that there is zero CCTV footage out of all this. How on EARTH did it come to pass that a twitter, then ES article was the only way to get the witnesses to come forward. We are supposed to be the most CCTV'd nation on earth, and of all streets in the UK you'd have thought Oxford Street was probably the most covered. This is obviously a load of shit, or the Police were in on the cover up to such an extent that they managed to get all the camera evidence destroyed.

Fuck those cops who didn't do their job properly. And fuck that cab driver.

Not a bad estimation I reckon.

OU your mate should definitely get something rolling out of this.

I know DB isn't everyone's cup of tea, but for advice you can take or leave for zero pence, he's reasonable value. Positively encourages pursuing stuff.

I witnessed a friend who was up for assaulting an officer and his defense was he basically he had the shit kicked out of him by a group of thugs and was running away when an officer who was called to the incident and didn't identify himself tackled him from behind and he defended himself as you would, he went up in front of the beak hoping the cctv would exonerate him, well the only footage that surfaced was my mate pinning said copper by the collar. So I was in court as a witness to the initial assault and sat next to the coppers listening to the older one schooling the younger cops in bullshit to say in the court the whole thing was an arse covering exersice that took 4 cops of the street for a day costing taxpayers hundreds of pounds so they could bullshit in court. SCUM.

Read this last night and was well pleased for your mate OU.

As paolo says, a PM to DB could be V V good ;)

How many taxi drivers and police are members of the Freemasons? Taxi drivers generally get a light touch policing wise...

The Met maybe, but it's not my experience. I had three of my limbs broken by a taxi driver when cycling in Brighton - the police spent two years diligently persuing quite the most devious, obstructive and unpleasant women I've ever encountered. They got her in the end, but it took a hell of a lot of work on their part. I found them helpful, sympathetic and (for the most part) competant.

glad the guy got off... though i'm guessing it's now too late for charges to be brought against the actual aggressor.
