Witness Appeal: Serious Assault, Oxford Street Mar 9th

Yeah good luck to your mate OU.

I saw an appeal on London Tonight or some such thing that was 100% in his favour, don't suppose that generated any witnesses though?

Only just seen this thread

I did not witness the event but spent a terrifying taxi ride in a black cab once with a driver who claimed to have intentionally run over a cyclist and left him lying in the street. He also claimed that he would seriously assault any "batty men" who dared to enter his taxi. He especially hated cyclists and homosexuals.

He was a complete psycho and I was too scared to write his cab no down as he kept looking at me in he mirror and I thought he might assault me. Even though it was late at night and my feet hurt I got him to drop me off a few roads away from my home as I didn't want him to know where I lived.

This was some years ago and I reported it to the cops. The driver was a big man, African / Caribbean with dreadlocks. If the driver fits his description then it might be worth while me talking to the cops dealing with your friend's case.

I did actually report this psycho to the cops at the time and they took a statement from me but they said that couldn't do much because I didn't take his cab number.

All I know is that I see far more cyclists break the law every day with how they act on the streets than I ever do Taxi drivers so based on that I would be willing to give the Taxi driver the benefit of the doubt.

clearly you've never driven in London...

I like to think it comes naturally.

But why are people so keen to assume that this cyclist is telling the truth ? Thats the bit I am failing to understand. Perhaps its because I am a working class londoner and know a few Taxi drivers that I tend to believe that there is more to this story than meets the eye but I accept that this is also probably down to a prejudice I have about cyclists in general.

Whats your excuse ?
Are you REALLY this much of a cock? Ah well, goes with believing in the skypixies, as brought to you by paedo priests I guess.
For my part, I know OU, have done for many years, if he says it's a mate and the mate's honest, that's good enough for me.

ditto...

but more interesting is why stoat boy thinks the cyclist isn't telling the truth...

still their cuntyness is now shown to be complete as clearly the courts also thought he was telling the truth I wonder if the Boy stoat will man up enough to apologise for their remarks??

we want details dammit

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/stand...ared-of-assault-thanks-to-standard-readers.do

The Standard said:
A cyclist has spoken of his relief at being cleared of assaulting a taxi driver involved in a crash in Oxford Street.

Jared Kelly, 39, was only able to clear his name when two witnesses came forward after reading about the case in the Evening Standard.

...

But at a hearing at South Western magistrates' court he was cleared of assault after the cabbie's evidence was found to be not "credible".

Mr Kelly's witnesses - retail manager Lee Sattaur and student Matthew Gowan - were praised for being "good Samaritans".

Compared to the standard, cycle rant threads on here are quite tame :D

My witness testified that on three separate occasions he attempted to explain and give his details to the arresting officer but was dismissed each time. This same arresting officer assured me, in his squad car and later at the police station, that he had taken the details of that witness.

Two months later, when that same officer informed me I was being charged for assault, I was horrified to discover the police had no record at all of my witness. My arresting officer denied that he had ever spoken to me about the witness and then suggested the witness was a figment of my imagination.

Not only did that witness exist, but he was so moved by what he had experienced that he wrote detailed notes of the whole incident and the following day went to his local police station to report his grievance and put himself forward as a witness.

For whatever reason, that police station did not forward those details onto the investigation.

wtf!

How many taxi drivers and police are members of the Freemasons? Taxi drivers generally get a light touch policing wise...

And if I am going to get a right hander out of this lets at least make it worth while.

Your mates story STINKS.

Are we really meant to believe that the Police turn up and find him unconcious on the floor and then arrest him and charge him with assault on a Taxi driver who has not got a mark on him ?

And the CPS are willing to bring this to court on the basis of a single witness who might have seen a punch being thrown but not connecting ?

Its bullshit. Pure and simple bullshit. Sounds to me like your mate bit off a bit mroe than he could chew with this taxi driver and is trying to get some publicity out of it for his new 'writing' career.

You are looking so stupid right now.

You are looking so stupid right now.

You win some, you lose some.

All I know is that the case was considered sufficently strong by the CPS to take it to court and the Judge threw it out.

What I objected to on this thread was the assumption that because the person arrested was a cyclist and able to use Twitter that somehow that exonerated them of being 'guilty'. There was a prosecution witness so I guess not everybody thought the cyclist to be innocent but thats how these things go.
