Will Sheffield United get more than Derby County's 11 points?

Obvs it's ten points to catchup before matching the 17th place team for the remainder of the season but that's not as snappy

Yes see what you mean butchers, I just meant they are currently 11 points from safety, not the total number of points at the end of the season. They are going to need spectacular form to survive but who knows?

Out of interest what is the lowest points tally any 18th team has got in Premier League history? Could be challenged this year.

Getting promoted to the Premier League is about the worst thing you can do as a manager isn't it. Guaranteed sacking on the way as soon as things don't go well. Still I'm sure he'll get a nice big payoff at least.

Even as a Wednesdayite, I find this staggering. I thought we had the monopoly on bonkers decisions by an owner of a Sheffield football club.

Having said that, the stupid money spent on two strikers who don’t score goals has probably counted against him. Could well be the start of a downward spiral

Feel sorry for Wilder, Knill and the coaching staff. As stated above getting promoted to the Premiership is one of the riskiest times in a manager’s career. No prisoners there.

That tends to be the trap for the newly promoted teams doesn't it. Fact is strikers who can be relied on to score plenty of goals at that level are in short supply, very expensive, and not about to sign for a newly promoted team. So they stretch to the limit on what they can afford and get someone who doesn't quite cut it.

Yet oddly those who stick with a manager after relegation can often bounce straight back. Dyche and Burnley spring immediately to mind, and Farke and Norwich are walking the Championship this year.

They had Michael Pailn doing a piece for United today in the buildup to the Chelsea game but I thought he was Wednesday - anybody know?
