Who is the best drummer ever?

Hollis

bloody furious
I'm no expert in this field.. However I'd have thought:

John Bonham
Pick Withers
Mick Fleetwood
David Grohl

I really can't stand the crash, bang, wallop brigade though.. you know the type.

Keith Moon - The Who
Tom Larkin - Shihad/Killing Joke
David Grohl - Nirvana/Foo Fighters
John Bonham - Led Zepp
Hideebeast - Head like a Hole

Toss up between...

Phil Collins arguably did some good work on Genesis's early prog rock albums like 'Foxtrot' and 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway'..

Wot no mention of Ringo Starr ;)

Lets face it, Ringo wasn't the best drummer in the world. Let's face it, he wasn't the best drummer in the Beatles!

*rimshot*

I'd have to chalk another one up for Bonham myself. Anyone else heard that mentalist 13m drum solo he did on Moby Dick for Song Remains the Same? Nutter.

In The Air Tonight has ace drums

John Bonham
Clyde Stubblefield
Tony Williams
Art Blakey

I'd put Ringo in too; yeah, he wasn't the tightest or the funkiest, but there's something really groovy about those off-kilter rhythms.

he drummed on 'music for airports' and 'music for films' as well...

hell, if you only judged people on their 80's output then stevie wonder, nile rogers and sammy hagar would all be tarred with the same brush.
