Which is the most hardcore Orange/Proddy town in Scotland?

Blackridge is pretty bad. Red, blue and white stripes on the kerbstones and red hand flags in the windows.

Oh and for all the people saying 'we don't have that in the East' I'm afraid that's bollocks. There were Orange Marches in Haddington when I was a kid and that's pretty damn East.

Brother and sis-in-law live in Carluke and I had a slightly 'erk' moment when we were visiting them in the summer, calling after my two boys who were running off down the street and seeing several passer-by's heads snap round when I said 'Daniel! Patrick!'. That made me a bit uncomfortable and that's certainly not something I experience in Edinburgh.

Reading this thread I'm so glad I live as far away from the sectarian bullshit as it's possible to get.

I teach in one of the most notoriously deprived areas of New Zealand and the kids don't believe the stories I tell about growing up in the central belt...

It's important to remember that we're talking about tiny minorities in all these places. Most folk don't give a shite about this nonsense.

From my experience it wasn't a minority in and around Lochgilphead in Mid-Argyll. Mind you my experience is from close to forty years ago.

Bound to be in Lanarkshire or Ayrshire. My first thought was Larkhall, but there is probably somewhere even more mental, going beyond painting the park railings grey not green, attacking the NTL boxes when first installed for being green and being the only place I've seen where Subway has a black, not green, frontage. Surprised they don't spraypaint the grass and trees.

check this dude out

See my post re south of the Firth ;) I think some Forfar twats wanted to have an orange march. Iirc they were told to forget it.

Yup - You usually find that most of the East Coast Orange walks depend on numbers being bussed-in from the West/Central. There are so few local participants.

And yes, on the odd occasion one goes ahead here the cunts just get ignored.

Not a town but I remember this particularly hardcore drinking establishment being featured on 'Britain's Toughest Pubs' on Sky which was basically a Rangers outpost which sits in the shadow of Celtic Park

(Fedayn reckons its a fairly regular boozer though and the The Bristol Bar is more more dodgy. Though both look pretty grim tbf.)

A lot of marches seem to pass close by where I live in Glasgow - there was one a few weeks ago which was a bit odd, it not really being marching season.

It's true, in comparison to The Bristol it's a kindergarten. A union rep in my place drinks in there as do a few Rangers supporting Lefties I know. The real cunt of a Bar is the definitely the Bristol, cunt of a hole of a bigotted shop.

As it goes I passed the Louden yesterday on my way back to work from the funeral of a Catholic TU rep in my branch.

That is the most horrendously tacky pub front in the world. Jesus. You are proud Rangers fans WE GET IT ALREADY

I love places and things that proclaim themselves 'the greatest in the world' despite vast amounts of evidence stacked against the bold claim

The east doesn't get any better as you go toward falkirk too though that goes without saying

avonbridge, slamannan, standburn, california, shieldhill and kincardine are like the fucking wild west.Nearly everyone of them is related in some way.

For a real orange pit try Dalry,Kilwinng and try drongan in ayrshire - they have the flagpoles on the houses.

In the Central Scotland category I would also add Airth and Bo'ness to the list. I'm not sure how Orange the braes (those towns mentioned) are but I definitely remember them having a kind of "League of Gentlemen" with council flats feel to them.

There is not a single Catholic family in Larkhall IIRC. I used to go top the Kart track there, never seen so many ' Red Hand ' flags in my life.

There's plenty of RC families in Larkhall, Paul McStay the former Celtic player and RC was born and brought up there. There's numerous RC families there. Mate of mine, a Celtic supporting RC, was, might still be, a councillor for that area on Sth Lanarkshire council.

Excellent. Either the rumour mill is wrong, or, which would be better, some sanity has come to the place.

I always find it weird that celtic park, Celtics pitch is in a traditionaly 'proddy' area and the reverse for Ibrox n rangers in a 'taig' area....
