What kind of shops would you like to see in the Brixton Arcades?

A haberdashers.

Excellent idea. In fact I went to that curtain place up Streatham High Road today. The lady behind the jump almost sang while she spoke. Very cheery staff in there. First time I've ever been there despite living here since 1985

a decent kebab/lamuhcan/falafel shop

No more eatery shops I'm afraid. I might stretch to renting you out a stand though. In fact, street food is the way to go. We could have lots of little street food stalls selling chicken satay...

actually, scrap that idea. People would only take it away and sit and munch it on the bus in the seat behind me.

No cooked takeaway food allowed either, unless it's from the international ex-pat goodie shop

i would ban haberdashers from MY arcade. anything that sells buttons and ribbons and little things. <shudders>

I agree. It's all very twee, but those middle class mothers who don't need to work and have nannies to look after their children need a hobby

In fact, they can sod off to Morley's

Sorry Story, no unit for you :p

I would like to open a pet shop please Minnie, I know what I'm doing, but I don't know if it would make any money 'cos everyone buys online these days.

I've been thinking about it for some time now. Can you even take dogs INTO the villarge?? :(

selling shitty candles and other tawdry costermonger fare. :(
you should never have banned eateries. i'm gonna bring you down.

I've allowed a shop that you'll like. Here's the list of units opening up in an arcade near you

A gay bar
Wine and International Beers of the World Shop (also selling whiskey/whiskys, brandies etc. not available in your normal high street store)
A decent menswear shop that doesn’t sell safari suits/vile shirts
A candle/Christmas shop
An independent book shop
A Citizens Advice Bureau
A small unit to display local artists changing weekly
An old style sweetshop
An international non-prescription medicine place
An international ex-pat foodie place
A picture framers

these will do as long as their are more eateries.
and the medicine place can only sell medicine. no snake oil or tiny useless yoghurts.

OK, I think a nice large unit for you at a reduced rent to reflect the fact that there used to be one and it left. However, your window display must have some lovely fish tanks and fish in it as fish are calming, and Brixton needs calming
