What is Wow Day at school?

Had an email from the school saying it is wow day and pupils should come in wearing hats, gloves and scarves. The best I can get out of my daughter is that it's something to do with the Antarctic. Is this just an excuse for the school to save some money on heating, shut it off for the day and get the kids to enjoy it by pretending they're in Antarctica, or something?

They're days where normally the whole school have people come into school to provide workshops which help them have a deeper insight of part of the curriculum.

Could be a theatre group or museum come in and bring resources and provide activities to help engage them.

Well I asked my daughter how it went and I'm still none the wiser. Apparently they were given a boarding pass and a passport then pretended to travel to Antartica where they ate ice cream, drank hot chocolate, had a snowball fight and made a mask.

A day off curriculum where students work on a project together. Such things can vary wildly in quality, your daughter's one sounds quite good.
