Look at flash-in-the-pan Spain, winning everything not so long ago but now not even in the top 10. I think the facts speak for themselves.

Were Chile's points in the Copa America too late to be included in this round? Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense as they weren't published until after, presumably for the very reason that they could then take that into account.
Colombia did better in the WC, going further and winning more group games, so maybe that's it.

Copy America final was the last result included I these stats and the reason they were announced on Monday. Had Chile won over 90 minutes they would have gone above Wales into top 10. As the win was only penalties the result actually counted as a draw for the rankings.That's a fair point actually, how'd that happen

That said, these things are actually calculated on some kind of actual method - not just some fantasist's opinion. A few good games here and there vs a mediocre/poor spell from the generally accepted crème de la crème and that's what happens. So fair play Wales

Oh, bollocks...! Every time they are released and England are higher than, say, 10th, people come on here jumping around saying "it's ridiculous, it's all a load of rubbish!". They're a statistical curio but I do think many people, on here at least, give any more weight to them than that
