Vote for Musk

hash tag

Books, not bombs
Inspired by some idiot (me) on another thread, how about Musk for next president and if so, he needs to start considering it soon. Is it so stupid?
He has the money, he has suitably high profile, he is now getting heavily involved in politics. He has as much as anybody could want, ie cars, rockets and social media and possibly many more things besides. The one thing he hasn't had that he could want is full on presidential power. I imagine the people that voted for Trump would vote for him. After all, if Trump can do it, not once but twice, then what's to stop him trying?

Trump has charisma, and Musk does not.

Someone must be at least 35 years of age to be President. Since this rule was invented a couple of centuries ago, life expectancy in the USA has increased considerably. Should not the minimum age limit be increased in line with life expectancy?

He wasn’t born in the US, so that law would need to be changed before he could.
Btw. Not that I'm changing your point, I'm guessing Musk is by now an American citizen. Besides with the business interests he has, his feet are well and truly under old glory. If it did become possible, I would put money in lots of people voting for him.

Remember the Obama “Birthers”? Their charge wasn’t that Obama wasn’t a citizen, but that he was “really” born somewhere foreign.

The madarses.

The US Constitution says the president has to be a "natural-born citizen" but I don't think the Supreme Court has ever ruled on a clear definition of the term - Ted Cruz was born in Canada but he was allowed to run in 2016 because his mother was an American citizen when he was born.

I don't think there's any chance of Trump pushing through a constitutional amendment that would allow Musk to run, but one of his grandfathers was born in the US, wouldn't put it past the current Supreme Court to issue an extremely broad definition of "natural-born" that could cover Musk

Exactly. They are my sort of people, just the sort of people who would vote Musk, probably regardless of whether he qualified or not.

If you've got your fingers lodged far enough into the right arseholes, then you don't need to be President. I think Musk is demonstrating that principle very well. Despite committing acts that would get ordinary mortals sent down for treason, he gets to enjoy government subsidies, security clearance, and the ear of the President-elect, instead of being left to rot in an oubliette as he deserves.

Ain't capitalism grand?

It should be 90. :)

I'm sure there are lower bars than that, but I can't think of one.
I am withdrawing my claim that Trump has charisma.
He is more interesting than Musk, but not charismatic.
People would not find Musk at all interesting. There are of course Musk fan people, but they admire him mostly for the products of the companies he owns.

Trump absolutely is charismatic. I'm not sure why anyone would bother to deny that tbh, it's not an endorsement of him to say that, all sorts of appalling people are charismatic. He couldn't do what he has if he was the US Keir Starmer though could he.

I'd vote for Elon if the ballot was "Should Elon Musk be picked for the first and only manned mission to land on the sun?"

As has been proven previously, the supreme court is easily purchased by lower net-worth billionaires. I'm pretty sure Elon easily has the funds to buy the votes to enable him to do it. He could give every republican in the house and senate and every RW SC justice a million dollars and it wouldn't even impact 0.5% of his wealth...
