Our VM bill for Broadband went up to £45 before Xmas. I told my ex to cancel it and they contacted to say they could do £33 which was still rubbish compared to the Black Friday deals. The kid on the phone was proper sarcastic saying 'the deals are for new customers, just like there were deals for new customers when you signed up'.

Anyway just remembered it's due to switch off next Friday and at the same time a text arrived. She just rang them and they've done it for £16. Cheeky fuckers.

The law was changed that companies have to offer the same deals as are offered to new customers wasn't it?
I don't think it went that far...

I recently renewed my BT Broadband for the same price as a new customer, I was even able to do it online without having to do the farcical phone call, so that was a nice change from the Virgin days.

I renewed Virgin Broadband via a web chat thing a couple of weeks ago, to basically the same price as their new customer offers, was less of a performance than previously.

Going through the renewal palava now. Have given notice to cancel.

It's bollocks isnt it? At least now I've got genuine other options for high speed Internet where I live, so when I play this game next time it won't be an ideal threat.

I'm on a business package so it will be interesting what their retentions are like.

Contract has just finished 500mb - was £45, went up to £52 with the price increase and now it's £69.

Can't get communtiy fibre (cr0) and don't want anything slower and reluctant to sign up for 18th month contract as we hope to move on sooner rather than later.

So Im a bit stuck, may give them a call and see if theyll do a 6 month deal.

If you sign up to Buisness you're treated as a new customer. You could get 800Mbps for £52 plus vat or 400 for £33.

Numbers are existing is £22 per month going to 51. WhatsApp Customer support offered 29.

My fall back is Vodafone who are offering 100mb for 26 with a shopping voucher.

Will they actually give you 100 though. One thing I like about Virgin in both places I've had it it's normally pretty close to what they promise.

Update: I had a call from the loyalty team today who did me M350 for £20/month. Would have been the 250mb package but my o2 SIM bumped my available offer up.

No other add-ons included in this price.

Apparently paying for a Business connection still isn't enough to get them to answer the phones or reply to messages on a sane timescale.

I'm still in contract, but Im proper pissed off, even if their service is awesome most of the time, it's shit if it's a nightmare when it goes down.

And unlike when I moved in there's real alternatives now. Zen full fiber is looking very appealing. We mostly use them for clients at work and I know there customer service is light years ahead of Virgin.

I've been with Zen for over 20 years. I can't speak highly enough of them. When you do need support you speak to an intelligent human being who treats you in the same way.

Oh I know. We use them at work for all our clients who arrange Internet through us. It's how I know how much better they are. Plus their 900MBs is a similar price to Virgins 800.

Sadly when I moved here it was a pitiful 50.

Virgin was putting me up from £35 to £64pm just for a broadband 300mb connection, no TV or phone!

Just phoned to cancel, pointing out CityFibre has installed their network here, and I've got various companies offering free installation of full fibre into the house and just £30pm, they came back with an offer of £35pm.

I asked why did they think I would pay £5pm extra to them with only fibre to the street cabinet and an old coaxial cable into the house, they said it was the best they could do, I said fine go ahead with the cancellation.

She asked me to hold whilst she sorted out the cancellation, then came back with the usual bullshit about having spoken to a supervisor and as a long term customer they could drop it to just £30pm on this occasion, so instead of it going up £29pm, it's coming down by £5, good result. :)

Go for community fibre.

Extremely fast. Full
Fibre optic And for £25 a month which is just £1 more than virgins £24 150mb/s line you can have 1gb/s up and down

You are in your cooling off period so can still cancel your current provider. Do a check to see if it’s in your area and get 1gb/s for £25 a month!

Plus if you use my referral link we will both get £100 after you pay your first bill. (A £100 Amazon voucher which technically puts you down to less than 20 a month).

I love it. It’s so fast it’s crazy. I downloaded a 72gb game in about 12 min the other night. On my old Virgin line that took me about 3-4 hours.

Here’s the link if anyone wants to sign up.

Full Fibre Broadband up to 3 Gbps | Unlimited Fibre Broadband | Community Fibre

Ps. Must sign up using my referral link if you want to take advantage of the £100 Amazon voucher offer.
Not doing a hard sell just putting forward a very very good deal

God I'd love a synchronous line. At least I've got real options now which aren't Virgin which wasn't the case when I moved, but no community fibre.

The problem I'm faced with is that is it's a slight risk that Zen might not deliver quite as well as Virgin. Virgin sucks as a company, but the actual internet service is pretty good. :hmm:

Totally crap. Sign up for community fibre. Virgin was charging me £34 a month for 150mb/s. And wanted to put it up to £29.

I moved to community fibre and oay £25 per months for 1gb/s. I already posted somewhere else here today. But here’s my referral link.

If you use it to sign up you can also get a £100 Amazon voucher for both of us after you pay your first months bill.

Not going to do the hard sell but compared to Virgin it’s amazing and set up is free also at the moment good luck whatever you choose.

Not a lot of people have the choice of Community Fibre, they only operate in London.

Community Fibre have been "coming soon" to my area for a year. However, Virgin clearly don't know that so I told them I was about to move to Community Fibre and they price matched. Once the new contract is up I'm hoping CF will be here and I can actually switch.

I move next month to a village that doesn't have Virgin, so I get to escape them without paying an early disconnection charge, despite only starting a new 18-month contract last month, when the robbing bastards tried to increase my monthly payments from £35 to £64 as I was running out of my last contract, I threaten to cancel and they dropped it to back to £35.

Turns out the village has full fibre with Openreach, so I am getting fibre into the house, not even got that with Virgin, no installation fee as I've done a 24-month contract with PulseNet at just £26.99pm, proper bargain!

So wait, all you have to do is tell them you're moving and then give them a postcode where they don't serve to get out of a fixed term contract?
