Virgin Media - Crap/Not Crap

So wait, all you have to do is tell them you're moving and then give them a postcode where they don't serve to get out of a fixed term contract?

As UnderOpenSky says, you have to provide proof, not sure what type yet, I want to send them a copy of my Plusnet contract, with the monthly charge highlighted! :D

If you’re moving outside our network area but still within the UK and give us some valid evidence of your new address, we’ll credit you back the early disconnection fee. When submitting your disconnection request, our team will explain the next steps and you’ll get a request for valid proof of your new UK address. If we get this back within 30 days and it’s validated, we’ll apply a credit to the value of your early disconnection fee to your account. If you’ve already been billed for your early disconnection fee before we apply the credit, we’ll still apply the credit to your account. As per paragraph N.11 of our terms and conditions, if there’s any credit remaining on your account after we’ve made the deductions, we’ll get in touch with you to refund you the remaining credit unless our costs to administer that refund outweigh the actual account balance. If that’s the case, we’ll donate the account balance to charity. If, at the point of sale, you think you might move outside the Virgin Media network area before the end of your minimum period, one of our 30-day rolling contracts might be better for you.

When I booked the service online with PlusNet, I noticed right at the end that they would send the router to my new address, but I haven't moved yet, so I called to get them to send it here, call answered straight away, UK call centre, all sorted within a couple of minutes.

Next up Virgin, because I am moving to an area they don't service, I can't cancel or advise them of my new address online, so off to their hopeless phone system, select all the correct menu options about moving, get told it can be done online, or hold for a adviser, then get cut off. Tried again, cut off again. Tried a different menu option for changing my service, left waiting for almost 10 minutes, then answered by what I suspect was an overseas call centre, serious problems with understanding what exactly I am trying to do.

Finally transferred to the moving team, UK call centre, where I am told I have 30 days from today to e-mail proof of new address, and avoid the £395.50 early disconnection fee! Then told my final bill will be issued on 11th Dec., for a total of £422.33, I said that doesn't give me 30 days, and apparently they think they will take that by DD, then refund me the £395.50 when I send them proof of my new address. Total - 31 minutes + the two two calls that were cut off!

I'll not miss their crap service.

And, I've just cancelled my DD, be buggered if I am letting them take that amount, then have to bugger about getting it back. :D
