vintage clothes 'district' - Central England?

kebabking

Not a Girly Swot, but I like them....
fashionable Urbs...

my 10yo daughter has decided that she likes 60's era clothes/style, and given what she normally wears i'm happy to indulge her.

could anyone point me towards a town or city anywhere between LLandridnod Wells and Lincoln, and Manchester and Bristol, that has half a dozen decent vintage clothes shops that are worth taking a day trip to? the closer to Worcester the better, but it doesn't really matter..

she's going to try making a simple, 60's style A-line dress with my Mrs on the sewing machine, but she'd like to have a bit of a looksie and a try-on of lots of bits and bobs, and maybe get a couple of bits.

chars.

Look for vintage clothes fairs/events rather than shops so that you get a larger choice.
Afflecs palace in Manchester has many stalls in one warehouse but it's always been too pricey for my purse.
Sadly its like visiting antique and junk shops, all a bit pot luck, she may find something in a fabric she loves but it's the wrong size etc. so the secret is to visit regularly and keep an open mind.
Dressmaking skills are essential for altering to fit anywhere/one local who can give lessons will be a great investment. They'd be a great present!

i did try to push the late 80's-early 90's stuff (my wardobe is full of it), but just got....

yeahno, my - like - street cred with - like - my daughter is - like - hanging by a - like - thread. OMG.

I only really know The London scene, I'm afraid. But avoid Afflecs Palace in Manchester as it's full of overpriced tat. They were trying to pass off a Primark sundress from a few years ago as "vintage" with a heavier price tag than it would have cost new! The Northern Quarter is a better bet, but proper stuff from the fifties and sixties is quite pricey these days. It's always worth having a look on eBay.
