Urban's All Back To Mine - chill out mix/playlist challenge

Had an idea for something anyone can take part in: make a mix/playlist, ideally at least an hour long of music to chill out to

A new years challenge: Ideally make a mix and upload it somewhere (mixcloud/soundcloud/googledrive) etc with a download link
But if thats too hard then just do a Spotify playlist
anything is better than nothing
especially at this time of year (winter) i crave some nice mellow music to listen to at home
so with that in mind theres a nominal deadline you can ignore to get your entry in before March. Sooner the better really

Anyone up for that?

Dont think any other rules are necessary other than keep it mellow

(The thread title refers to the Back to Mine mix/compilation series which does a similiar though possibly slightly different thing)

If I do it will be a playlist and it won't be house/electro because I'm pretty clueless on that. Asking me to mix chillout house music would be like asking a donkey to pilot a fighter jet. I could give it a go but they'll be hooves everywhere along with the impending sonic doom.

of course it can be absoultely any type of music, Kylie Minogue B-Sides, Spinal Tap's unreleased piano numbers, anything goes - just no impending sonic doom please :)

I put something together to play at a NYE party which fits the bill ...up until the last few tracks where there is an element of subdued sonic doom ... maybe I'll rework the ending so it doesn't end on a dark note ...

What now?

Well I couldn't work out how to export a playlist as a single audio file so I got some basic DJ software, stacked all the songs up and set it to auto-DJ which basically means it plays all the tracks in order with cross-fades for transitions. This left both my hands free for the real DJ work, namely shovelling down cocaine and throwing speakers at my fans.

Anyway, here it is:

Do you have a playlist? Liking that first song, but no idea who it is.

I'll put up the whole tracklist later if anyone's that bothered.

Would love to contribute to this, but think the only way I can is just to provide a tracklist. I guess I could make a YouTube playlist if that’s a thing

By coincidence me and Fez have just both posted a couple of mixes that fit this bill. Im still going to done one for this thread but it can take me ages to put a mix together! So in the meantime:

A double bill of deep house: with a foundational mix from me, and a guest mix of fresh deep house from f3z.

There's so much house music that gets called deep these days, which is fair enough as there's many a way of going in, but this first mix is all about the original incarnation. Tracks full of sweet melancholy, rolling with no rush, drawing on the spirit of street soul and the logic of dub, and providing an emotional core to the endless second summer of love.

Featuring heavily are classic tunes from New York labels like Strictly Rhythm, Fourth Floor, and a big dose of the almighty Burrell Brothers driving the Nu Groove sound. Also touching a couple of Chicago tracks, from godfather of this sound Larry Heard and Robert Owens. A couple of rarer cuts in there too, including a previously unreleased instrumental version of Sha-Lor's 1987 deep anthem I'm In Love.

New York and Chicago both get some serious snow in winter, and there's something warming and fitting about this sound for the winter months. Larry Heard recalls on making his deep house anthem Can You Feel It "it was in the winter and at that time I was living in this apartment that had these really big windows, kind of a loft place, and I had a view of downtown Chicago and it was snowing. All of my friends that were over that night, they all remember that visual of the snow falling and this music playing." I love to picture that! Here's hoping this mix brightens up these dark months....

i thought it was supposed to be chill out rather than house?

it can be whatever you think is chilled out... this is a deep/minimal/IMO very chilled morning after style house mix
im going to do another one especially for this thread but who knows what it'll have in it - might well have some kick drums!
