Unpopular film & TV opinions

I never understand people who pre judge movies/tv by the people who are in acting in it. They might very well be different in the new role they are playing because they are um... actors.

Some actors have more range than others - hard to imagine Ricky Gervaise's Hamlet.

Captain Phillips.

Castaway

Forest Gump

Toy Story

The Green Mile
I don't count Toy Story because its just his voice. It's my rule and I apply it anyway i like. Bailed on Castaway after 20 minutes, it was terrible. Ditto Captain Philips. Green Mile is one of the most over rated films in movie history. My opinion.

People will think you are jesting, but they are both genuinely good films, aren’t they?
They're both (very) dated, but they each are fully-functioning movies with their own charms, effectively made and with Hanks putting in strong performances

The Money Pit

Tom hanks is a good actor. He's great in the Coen Brothers' Ladykillers, which is a very good remake. Like a good cover version of a song, it keeps the essence of the original while taking it new ways.

i tried to put tom hanks into imdb to see his filmography but instinct took over and i accidently put it in Discogs

turns out he did a rap tune 😣

Tom Hanks is a modern day (but less good) Henry Fonda really. Never plays a villain, and if you don’t like the sort of character he plays as he’s inevitably the hero in a character-based drama then I can understand why you wouldn’t want watch his films.

Maybe Hanks needs to play a real evil villain to show he has a bit of range

He's not a hero in Ladykillers, mind you, and is very good at being a slimy fucker in that.

Fonda was brilliant as a baddie in Once Upon A Time In the West. Good call that Hanks could do with a role like that.
