Universities

I'm all for soul-crushing cynicism, but the reason MMU and the council backed off is because of some lawyers using their pro-bongo hours for good over the weekend. While no-one does anything for totally pure reasons, there's plenty of left wing lawyers, and plenty of lawyers who are keen on upholding human rights as a common good rather than just to make money or build their profile.
Before you notice the autocorrect error and edit, I just want to say that “pro-bongo” is a great phrase and I intend to use it at every opportunity

I wouldn't be surprised if plenty of those anti-mask demonstrators are pro bongo

Only tangentially connected to universities, but I would be overjoyed if the whole fucking landlordism and shit student accommodation business completely collapses. This has sucked the life out of my town and made it impossible for families of year round residents to compete with ridiculous rents and complete lack of housing options so frankly, I would be up for burning the crappy warehouse units to the ground.

Please also note that both staff and students who break any law, including Covid-19 legislation, may be subject to the University’s student disciplinary procedure staff disciplinary procedure.

We have put in place comprehensive measures to support the University community through the changing impacts of the pandemic we face. We continue to prioritise the health and well-being of all our students and staff, recognising that potential impacts go far beyond the direct risks of coronavirus transmission.

from my work :(

Lots are only starting this week arent they? Mrs B's niece is off to Bristol today, very cheerful that she dodged the bullet of Glasgow (the uni she had settled on before the a-level regrades meant she could go to her first choice after all). She's also looking forward to the 'blended' teaching they're promising there. I just hope she's got two weeks of dried food to stick under the bed, although I think they don't think it'll happen to her...

Not being funny, but not sure how much relevance there is to just listing the number of universities that have had positive cases. I know UWE had one positive case three weeks ago and nothing reported since, but you're still counting it.

Not disagreeing with your desire to keep a record of this stuff, or the fact that there's potential for this to be a huge clusterfuck (or that it already is a huge clusterfuck in some locations), just not sure how relevant some of the above stories are to the issue.
