Tyre place Brixton Hill on fire!

Brixton Hill is closed, there's a huge blaze and fire engines everywhere.

I knew it. With that much smoke it just had to be.

Will we get a new supermarket now? :D

Funnily enough, my first thought was, that'll make it easier for someone to redevelop. I smell insurance and burning rubber on the breeze.

It's a huge fire - biggest I've seen. Smoke blowing West from the tyre centre. I hope the neighbouring buildings don't catch... or the furniture depot behind...

Took video on my phone, but not sure how to post...

Phew! I think I resized it OK. Not great, I'm afraid.

Nope. It was a resizing disaster. Sorry. Looks like a heat camera or something.

Just got back in absolutely gasping for breath. Smoke blowing into our flats :(

Couldn't even smell it when we down there

The roof's totally buckled as well

Would imagine they'll rip that down

Maybe it's time for Editor to take a trip up Brixton Hill tomorrow and immortalise our beloved petrol station/tyre centre ;)

It's been a bit of a weekend for Brixton.

Aggro outside my block on Friday afternoon.
Bloke shot dead on Friday night
"Mini riot" on Saturday night and now a hefty fire on Sunday.

What's next? A plague of locusts?

Good god! I wondered what that was.

Brixton Hill is still closed to traffic.

They weren't even letting pedestrians walk down it this morning!

I'm watching it out the window now. Good excuse to go in to work late as I was awake half the night because of the smell of burning rubber (thought we'd shut all the windows but hadn't shut the bedroom one fully). Got up a few times as I thought I was going to puke.

So, how long does rubber burn for, as the smoke's still pretty thick?

I always said someone would burn it down one day, even if it was just kids out of mischief

Saves on getting rid of all those fucked tyres. Must have saved the owners a fortune.
Got to be a bit suspicious hasn't it?

I mean, tyres aren't exactly easy to set ablaze.

There are two coppers on my street & traffic cones right now. They're directing cars down to Brixton High St
