Interesting parallels to be had between D'Angelo and Ziggy, doncha think - sons ill-fitting the family business, etc?

Also interesting parallel with these two and Prez: another one who doesn't really fit the traditional family business: he finds that he is good at the admin and problem solving part of the wire tap, but that he isn't as good at the traditional police work out on the streets.

Of course, Prez is the only one who escapes the family business and finds something else that he is good at. The other two, trapped by poverty (of choices and aspirations, as well as the regular kind) aren't so lucky).

Nope, I think the actor who played Sobotka is great in the role, and while Aidan whatsisname isnt the greatest of actors, his rat lke charm is perfect for the Carcetti role.

For me, some of the acting isn't great. I'd agree about Carcetti, probably not the role for that guy.

I suppose the point is they took enormous risks with so many of the cast - especially the Black actors - and it almost always paid off. Look at the range of kids for example, including the obvious but also characters like Snoop. No spoilers!

hektik - Prez is possibly more of a contrast perhaps than what I meant by a parallel. He's also an in-law rather than born into it, but I do agree, he's in that mix.

How about those natural leaders Avon and Frank Sobotka vs. the ambitious Stringer and Daniels?
