The proper "Rocky Horror Picture Show" thread!

Haaa the 'like' was a bit of a shock! I had only been here a short while having joined in 2005... There was no way I could remember this thread so its been funny rereading it.

40th anniversary theater show tour is starting soon.. I am hoping that there is a show in Cardiff

40th Anniversary?!

I haven't watched the film for years. Still got my signed programme from the 21st with Jonathan Morris as Frank'n'Furter and Patricia Quinn as Magenta!

Just got back from seeing it in Cambridge - was excellent, if a little loud at times (would have had no chance of understanding half the lyrics if I didn't know them by heart). Really well staged, great audience participation and dressing up.

i have to admit to liking it in my teens but an adult rewatch a few years ago made me cringe.

I did like it, but when I finally saw it, found it a wee bit of an anticlimax because it was so legendary. I think you need to be a little bit older than I am (I'm 33 and saw it as a teenage goth) to really appreciate any kind of shock value it might have had. I have heard people a little bit older than me speaking quite emotionally about how the film made them feel like less of a weirdo and as if someone in the world actually understood them.

I liked Magenta.

I'm not sure I really found the film shocking back in the day when I was a teenager. What I liked was that it dealt with queer sexuality and gender bending in a fun, playful way when almost all representations of queer sexuality in films were negative then. It isn't a great film and I can see why people now would scratch their head what the fuss was about, but it appealed to young people who felt like outsiders or who flirted with being outsiders. The cinemas who showed it became a place for kids to congregate and it took on a social quality which I think no film before or since has matched. The audience ended up participating with the events on the screen and it became more than film, it became a party.

me and my friend recently went to a rocky horror show at the theatre, we took some items to use in the audience participation part, rice, toilet paper, rubber gloves, water pistols etc ! Only to find out while queuing to go in that security was searching everyone and confiscating water pistols ! "Damn" ...we thought ! These were the one thing we wanted to take in most of all ! Not to worry though cos us girls are very inventive, and sneaky ! There we were all dressed up in our sexy French maid outfits and about to be outdone ! "I don't think so ", our turn came, security searched through our gear, " no water pistols " ! Hehe !! we went in grinning though cos the water pistols were safely hidden down our knickers ( the front) !!! This is how we've always smuggled them in ever since ! we're now on our 5th outing and have had a great time joining in, and soaking people who moan! we smuggle them out the same way so security has no idea it's us if anyone complains. We usually go for a drink after woods, if the place is packed we carefully get the water pistols out of our knickers and squirt some of the lads for a laugh then quickly put them back down ! They never know it's us !! Hehe ! Even though we're giggling and grinning all the time !!

Hello there, Mango5 ! Nice to here from you ! If you're a girl, are you also using the foolproof knicker stash smuggling system for your water pistol like me and my gal pals ? If yes, what's your verdict on it ! If no, give it a try, We all think its unbeatable ! After all, it is like a participants code of honor to smuggle things in past the spoilsport security guys ! Hehe ! Let's hear what your smuggling system is ! Long live rocky horror !!! For ever, and ever ! "Smuggle away girls" !!

Crikey, I'm not saying I'm old but when I used to go see the RHS everyone could bring water pistols, lighters, toast, rice.

I guess these days you'd get tasered for doing that :(

" YEP " ! Tasered it usually is ! Probably right in the conkers  ! Ouch! But haha! I'm a girl so I haven't got any !!! So no doubt I'll end up with tasered tits instead  !!! And my water pistol is still safely hidden down my knickers !!!! Get outta that !
