right now Elton John is covering Nick's songs and making them sound kinda jolly

cue shouts at the computer "why isn't this on Family Tree?" - especially Nick's version of Don't Think Twice It's Alright.

why the fuck didn't the estate just do an offical highest possible quality release of this album? :mad: extra pissed off that there's one song not on the cd but on itunes.

IIRC because the song versions featured on this release were all hometaped by nick in his bedroom back in the day, and when they found and rescued these recordings for relase, the original tapes had already (and inevitably) started to decay rather badly... for years and years... so we're lucky to hear these sounds at all...

yes, the sound is extremely poor and in some instances even distorted by tape warbles/rot, but you can still hear under all that what made him so special
