So I enjoyed the Leeds Brudenell very much indeed. What a great place that was. And the Preston Continental was a great venue too.

Our keyboard [player often has to improvise stands, and this was one of my favourites, being made from two children's highchairs and an upturned bread delivery basket...



He says such DIY contraptions are often sturdier than proper keyboard stands!

We've played Bristol twice now - we were there last month at the Thunderbolt. It's a great little venue.

We're off to Germany again soon, the back for Lewes, Cambridge and London and then we get to play some festivals (huzzah!) but they're in France, Belgium and Spain!

The band - and me especially - would love to play Wales again but it's down to being offered the right shows that make financial sense.

Played a sold out gig in Cologne last night. It was going so well until the PA blew up!

Well that was a fun tour - Mainz and Hamburg were great and the sold-out Berlin gig was so rammed it took us five minutes to get through the crowd to the stage!

Not sure why we're so popular in Lewes, but tonight's show has totally sold out - there's still some tickets for Cambridge tomorrow night though. I may be able to do the odd guest list if anyone's around

Anglophiles! Quadra- and quinquagenarians! Song-based post-punk partisans! Lend me your calendars: The Monochrome set will be playing Barboza on March 5th, 2019. If we're all still here, that is.

The Monochrome Set formed in London in 1978, which is almost all the recommendation a certain stripe of listener might need. Their songs featured the telltale anxious guitar energy that defined many of that era's best-loved groups (Magazine, Orange Juice, et al), but rather than aiming for the adjective that came to characterize the period more than any other—"angular"—their songs were melodic, suave, smart, and subdued.

It may also be worth mentioning that the group's Indian-born lead singer/songwriter Ganesh Seshadri, better known as Bid, represented (along with Poly Styrene, Kid Congo Powers, Zeke Manyika, Pauline Black, Don Letts, and a few others) a rare non-white presence in the UK post-punk scene.
