The Elizabeth Line (aka Crossrail) is go!

Is it actually considered a tube line though? I'm not sure it is even though it integrates in all the same ways. Not sure if that was the rationale but hey.

Apparently it will be called the Elizabeth line line.

i'm glad you've caught up with 2016

It's not officially considered an underground line in the way that the DLR and the Overground are not considered part of the Underground. Given the distance out of London it travels, it's not that different from Thameslink or the Metropolitan which is considered to be the Underground. Don't forget there are still plans for Crossrail 2 (The Charlie Line?) Crossrail 3. ( The Khansonstone Line?).

Rumour is the Crossrail opening date is now being delayed by purdah, and is due to be announced after the election.

Although, judging by their track record, that may not necessarily mean this weeks local elections.

Leaves on the line... the wrong type of snow... purdah. What will they think of next.

Just looked at this for going Stratford to Heathrow later this year.

OPENING MY ARSE :snarl:

You will still have to change at Paddington and Liverpool Street, completely defeating the purpose. It will be three separate lines for another year at least.

Yeah it will not be proper until I can get on a train a Liverpool St and ride all the way to Heathrow. I am however looking forward to going to Paddington and back in relative speed and comfort though without having to do the Circle/Hammersmith & City line.

The British press will be busy right now preparing their articles about how much of a fuck up it’s going to be. Expect the slightest issue to be met with screams of chaos and failure. It’s what we’re good at in this country.

Suspect this is a factor in why it’s years late

It's making you cross, isn't it?

And the 300 bus is being rerouted from the end of this week, which will leave some cross commuters, particularly on Prince Regent Lane were the buses will start running in the opposite direction.

The Mail obsession with civil servants working from home is a bit weird isn’t it? They need demons for the public to rail against to draw fire from the actual cunts in charge.
