The dog thread is better than the cat thread, because it features dogs.

Facilitated a private adoption between my friends brother and my cousin for Veeya, a ginormous staffie.
She is too strong and pulls, so the wife of the family couldn't walk her with her kids, so she rarely went out as the husband works long hours.
My cousin is a strong lad though, and has been in the doldrums a bit lately, and this has pulled him out of his funk.
They made a connection immediately completely bonded in days

was Veeya on any rescue sites?? I feel like I have seen this pup somewhere!

Urban dogz in your dreams..
I obviously spend far too much time on here; lurcher puppy Quincy was in my dream. Dunno where I was but he was there, I said ‘oh hey I recognise you, you’re quincy’. He was having a good time, wandering round and being fussed by people.

It really is. They hang out together all the time now. Boo tries to headbutt Ted, which he is slightly scared of, and Ted tries to smell Boo’s bum, which he gets fed up of. But they both accept each other’s differences like some tiny metaphor for utopia.
I remember the days when Boo was desperate to have someone smell his bum and now, gets bored with it. Cats ! :D

The sad thing that I dwell on many times a day is that Boo is almost 18 now. I can’t bear the thought that their little friendship will break up one day. I just hope the little fellow carries on for some more years yet. I thought he was on his way out 3 years ago, to be fair, and he’s probably better now than he was then.

Find this a bit strange - I'd have thought a dog woofing down day's food in one go would put a strain on the stomach.

Also not sure that changing from two feeds now would be good, and would have to be done gradually if done at all. Frankie does seem to be getting into a routine. I'm already changing the dry feed he's on gradually, seems to be fine so far.

Ha they really do. Loads of old Jack Russells round here. They sit in the passenger seat with their old owner and think they own the place.
When I’m bored and wfh I watch the jack Russell in next doors scaffold yard, he’s either busy running and sniffing around, playing with the scaffolders and the old boy who seems to run the show who doesn’t go out on the lorry, or taking a keen interest in the ferret hutches :)

All terriers are busy but Jack Russels seem to be especially tenacious. It’s kind of lovely to meet one that is living it’s best life, I see too many that aren’t ever let off the lead. On the other hand, they are a bit yappy. Def not a dog I’d want to live with.
Having said that, a friend of a friend has a young one, they’re (older) farmers and this is their first pet dog, and he is an utter delight. Follows them round wherever they go, gets in the tractor seat and makes himself comfortable, friendly with all dogs he meets.

Had a long chat with my colleague yesterday, she was telling me how she got a dog when she was lonely 6 years ago and it was brilliant for her getting out and about in the local area, meeting other dog owners etc. She moved to the area from another country; I am also new to the SW and I can see the advantages. Plus living on my own I could do with someone to look after as it will help me look after myself :)

She has taken me on as a bit of a project I think (I’m moving to the town she lives in so I have asked her lots of questions) and she was evangelising about dogs and telling me that I should get one :)

She has given me some serious thinking to do once I’ve moved. And a motivator to improve my fitness now that I’m able to walk for an hour which I couldn’t last year.

I don't like seeing dogs in neck collars for this very reason. Perhaps Johnson would like to be dragged around by something tied around his neck. Poor dog.
