The dog thread is better than the cat thread, because it features dogs.

I met an absolutely lovely bulldog yesterday, absolutely gorgeous colour it was (a very rich reddish-brown, I'd not seen one quite that shade before) and it seemed to be breathing alright even in its excitement to see me which is good. Very sweet and friendly, was dead happy when I stopped to say hello (with permission from its human ofc!)

Any recommendations for a good cooked dog food that won’t bankrupt us?
All 3 raw fed but Lucy is poorly today and the emergency vet was slightly horrified our vet hadn’t told us not to feed her raw because of her sarcoma.

I’ve bought some Wainwrights trays for a few days and she’ll have steamed fish and chicken until her stomach settles.
Someone suggested butternut box but I’m assuming that’s going to be well expensive.

We’ve also come away with a shitload of drugs. Amitriptyline, Gabapentin, cocodamol, antibiotics.

Feels like a big jump in her care which has freaked me out. I cried all through the appointment which was slightly ridiculous. 😄

We use butternut. Can send you a discount code if you want to try it? I think it probably is eye watering for a big dog though 😬

Chappie (the original, rather than the chicken) is worth a try. It’s cheap and seems gentle on a sensitive stomach, it was the only shop bought wet food that didn’t give my old greyhound dire rear.
Could you cook the meat the others have raw?
I make stew for mungo with meat veg and rice or pasta. He has about 1lb meat a day, which I get for £1-1.50 two handfuls of cheap mixed veg and 2 handfuls rice or pasta, all cooked together. He weighs about 20kilos and is fairly active, I fed the same to my old grey who weighed 30 kilos but was less active.
Meat is variously those frozen blocks from pet food shops, butchers scraps or cheap supermarket.

Thanks all, adding everything to the list to check out. She said don’t cook what we use as it has bone in it. Shame as she absolutely loves her Wolftucker complete food.

We could cook all her food separately but it might be simpler to move all three onto something else.
She’s got basa fillets and carrots tonight.

Currently off her tits on morphine and hopefully about to have a good snooze. ❤️

Next challenge, trying to give her medication. She’s off her food so rejecting the gabapentin hidden in a a ball of bread. She’s so stubborn!

We used to make a big thing of hiding it, sometimes by his water bowl, sometimes on the outside of the washing machine porthole. Made a game of it.

Sometimes the cheeky sod would lick the sugar off and then spit it out: in that case it was in the mouth and tickle his throat to make him swallow

Mrs Catsbum is away for five days. I feel bad enough but Dax in particular is sad when she's not at home. I wish I could tell her she'll be back!
My husband's going away with work for a few days. He's had his suitcase and laptop bag in the dining room and been rushing about packing and Cassie is moping about following him. She actually ended up sitting in his case. Poor Cassie hates change.

Facilitated a private adoption between my friends brother and my cousin for Veeya, a ginormous staffie.
She is too strong and pulls, so the wife of the family couldn't walk her with her kids, so she rarely went out as the husband works long hours.
My cousin is a strong lad though, and has been in the doldrums a bit lately, and this has pulled him out of his funk.
They made a connection immediately completely bonded in days
