Hello again, good and urbane gentlefolk of Urban.
I'd like to introduce you to Belladog.
She's what's traditionally and colloquially known as a (roughly phonetic,) "Heung Gong Haak Jung Gau", which roughly translates as a Hong Kong Black Bastard Dog or Hong Kong Black Meat Dog (good food in the olden days - and still today among some older villagers, although illegal).
More recently, and politely, known as a "Tong Gau", "Chinese dog" and locally translating as "Village Dog" (typically a mix of just about everything but usually involving some Chow and Sharpei ancestry), they are rural country dogs, often stray/feral (still too many thousands of them!) and have, of course, evolved and adapted over thousands of years.
Bella is the 10th Tong Gau I've rescued over the last 28 years (Jessiedog being the first,) and is my only current dog (the others had very long and very good lives). She's mid-sized (about 25kg,) and, clearly, had a German Shepherd shoved in there at some point in the last few generations of her family tree.
Anyway ... she's twelve years old now and has been my constant, right-by-my-side, companion since I rescued her four years ago. A more loyal friend would be difficult to find. She's still puppy-like, energetic, playful, inquisitive, elegant, charming, insistently needy of attention - and as smart as a button.
And I fucking love her to bits!
These pics are from Xmas 2020.
Please meet Bella:
Ohhhhh maaaaan! Xmas is so fucking boring!
Well, I mean until I get my presents that is, then it's really fucking cool!
But, after that, all the excitement is soooo fucking exhausting!
Wait! What? There are more presents?!!!
...
(Narrator's voice: No, Bells, I'm afraid it's all done now.)
...
Ahhhhh! Fuck it! Xmas is really booooring! Anyway, what's for dinner?
...
She's one in a million.
Take care, good peeps.
Be nice to each other.
