The difference between hip-hop & rap?

I feel as if most of the millennial Bristol hip hop I experienced was within a hundred feet of jungle (but with less awesomeness), but was quite some distance from rap.

My memory might, admittedly, be clouded by vast qties of millennial Bristol drugs.

This reminds me of that young ladywoman, Rebecca, who sang a rap about fridays. Iirc.

I might go and look that up.

They do tend to overlap but in my mind they're two completely different genres.

I consider hip-hop to be much less aggressive than rap, eg:

Fuck... now I'm questioning my own logic, because I'd also consider this to be hip-hop:

But it's also, quite clearly, rapping

Is it the difference between east and west coast?
I think my head might explode on this one. I always considered them to be different genres, but thinking about it there's a massive overlap.

I are confused... And it is your fault, moody

We already have the answers:
Hip hop is a culture. Rap is part of that culture.

This. Along with DJing/turntablism, breaking, beatboxing, graffiti, & etc.
