The Blues

A brilliant slow 32-bar blues, with Papa John Creach, probably the best blues violinist there is. And the Bernie Pearl Blues Band aren't half bad, either...

Check out the awesome Sister O.M. Terrell

Came across her because of this version of Swing Low on a compilation cd i picked up once

How good is that!!

But checking on youtube it seems everything she has recorded (not much - 6 sides according to one article i just saw) is gold

Love that - not a big fan of the violin but thats sweet

There was a bit of a blues boom in the late 60s and at leeds University, they booked a small string of old bluesmen. I saw Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee a few times (who were great fun) but I was really impressed by Mississippi Fred McDowell..

Mississippi Fred McDowell is fucking amazing, and that video is great. Some wonderful guitar work on that.

Here's some more. Bukka White - Poor Boy Long Way From Home

RL Burnside's version of Stack O'Lee

Really getting into the female delta singer sound - seem to be few and far between in terms of recordings - this is a really unique melody
