There wasn't an "utter cack" option.

This, according to imdb is a "memorable quote" from the film:

Donny: Phone's ringing, Dude.
The Dude: Thank you, Donny.

Hilarious stuff!

The first 45 minutes or so before I binned it. If I hadn't seen it why d'you think I'd comment?

fair enough :) sounded like you hadn't

you're still a weirdo for not liking it though :p

Its not my sense of humour at all. There's lots of weird stuff, but something has to be more than just weird to be funny. If all it took to be funny was being weird then I would be hilarious.

Yeah well, that's just, ya know, like, your opinion, man.

:D

I'm with you kid eternity. A friend of mine said that it was a great film, I'm usually open to any kind of film of any genre, but truly this wasn't all that.
My friend will now and again say something from the film which would make me laugh, then I might say where is that from, and he would say the big lebowski. So maybe I didn't get it, even though I feel I did. Fargo is much better, although an altogether different film.

Oh yeah right... Tell me Einstein, what's to get?

The assortment of explicit ideologies in an otherwise mundane modern setting. The way the story unfolded into a complex comical network from just one triviality and how some innocent pacifist hippy was unwillingly drawn into all--right into it's centre--very clever and very funny stuff. Sorry you didn't get it.

Yep, "got" all that, even "got" the way that the three friends (including the Dude) were all metophors for American men of a certain generation etc. Still an average film imo...

Yeah, but you could choose any out of context quote from any comedy film and it wouldn't be funny.

Look ...

"Joe: We didn't see anything!
Jerry: We didn't hear anything either!"

(Some Like it Hot - imdb.com rating 8.4/10)

Yeah but these are listed "Memorable Quotes" from the film! <snip> oh, my sides are splitting!
Yes, and note that it says 'memorable' quotes, not 'amusing' quotes. And if you've only watched the first 45 minutes of a film at least twice that length, you haven't actually seen it, have you.

From the genius that is The Big Lebowski Random Quote Generator...

On being Jewish...

"Three thousand years of beautiful tradition from Moses to Sandy Koufax, you're damn right I'm living in the past!"

"Man, they were nihilists, man. They kept saying they believed in nothing."

One of the best films from the 1990's..

Walter: Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.
