The Bicycle Racing Thread 2014

It provides a useful kind of build up to the first real contender setting one under the new rules.

ftr, Wiggins finished the worlds in an average speed around 3km/h for a circa one hour effort. add his superior track background and probably better kit and i assume rominger's mark will be at risk.

The equipment used for both Rominger and Boardman's records is not legal still. Swiss Tony used 650c front disc and 700c disk rear (UCI rules state wheels must be of equal size). Boardman's superman bars - and frame with its lower position secondary bars integrated into the frame - are still totally illegal. Romiger also being doped to the gills by Michele Ferrari surely ushers him into the 'cyclists we don't talk about' area surely?

i was talking in terms of where Wiggins will put his benchmark. not to be too harsh, Brandle is a middling TTer with no track pedigree, riding on a modified road tt bike.

Wiggins will be back on track full time soon, and will no doubt have the full weight of british cycling behind him. can see him putting it back on the shelf for another ten years or so.

I hear Dani King took a little tumble while out training earlier today. Lots of hugs for a speedy and full recovery

Interesting enough docu on Francois Pervis as he rides the Keirin season in Japan. The 'no touching' rules that exist in UCI sanctioned events certainly don't apply .

In other news, Gazzetta saying investigators have evidence that Ferrari was working with Astana at pre-season training camp and suggestions that 90 cyclists have been working with him - many who have never been connected to a doping scandal before.

Santambroggio popped for Testosterone 10 days before his come back from a (shortened due to assisting the authorities) ban.

The mind boggles.

In case anyone is interested I see the lovely Emma Pooley was on University Challenge ast night; worth catching on iplayer perhaps.
