Stewart Francis Live

Steel Icarus

Went to see him last night; he was funny as fuck. Matt Rudge, a really young-looking guy I'd never heard of, supported, and he was great, with some wonderfully tasteless stuff but mostly just funny observational stuff.

I had my reservations about Stewart Francis - could he pull off an 80 minute show where each one-liner takes at most 20 seconds? How much of the material had I heard before?

To be fair, about half the one-liners were familiar - but somehow it didn't stop them being funny. Greeted them like old friends. It helped that large sections of the audience hadn't seen him before, so roared at stuff I chuckled at.

The pace was a bit weird, by nature of the thing - a bit up and down, but you didn't have to wait very long for another zinger.

I would recommend, if you get the chance.

saw him a couple of weeks ago - booked the tickets after we saw him supporting Ricky Gervais earlier this year. I agree, bloody funny and Matt Rudge was a good warm-up act. "Look at him, he's so handsome. I think he's ready to tell his next joke"

Some of it was a bit near the mark which was quite refreshing...
