Films set in San Francisco & surrounding area

Anyway. In the before times I booked a one day tour with these people and it was excellent. I'd recommend them for an introduction for the kids.

No mention yet of The Room, which I believe holds the world record for establishing shots of San Francisco? Notice this sublime shot that was very definitely not shot on a parking lot in LA with SF green-screened in later (despite the writer/director apparently owning a building with a rooftop in SF but refusing to shoot the scenes there).

Escape from Alcatraz starring Clint Eastwood is good if they’re going to visit the island
This x 1000, plus any documentaries ofc. Also if you are going to the island, it is easier to plan and buy in advance your tickets, otherwise you'll need to queue at 4am.

If this extends to LA, then I've been loving TV more than film appearances, especially Bosch, and maybe Goliath - The Mulholland Drive-y part of the world is really of interest to me tellyvisually!

Two brief scenes were shot in San Francisco, most of it was shot all over the Bay Area and in Northern California. Harold's family and Maude live in San Mateo County.
Yeah - fully aware of this..
But the original post is Films set in San Francisco & surrounding area..
Besides I love this film and wanted to get away from the usual car chase scenes ...
Good to see you back...

In that case...

...The Birds starts out in San Francisco and then moves to Bodega Bay, which isn't far.

TBF, although it is one of the best movies ever, I'm not sure it fits this:

"They are off to California in October on an amazing trip to visit family & see the sites. They have a week in San Fran so any films or TV shows to watch of San Fran & surrounding areas to enhance that just like the film feeling."

:D

It'd be worth them watching anyway (assuming it's available somewhere). California trip or not.
