Speedy grocery deliveries

Maggot

The Cake of Liberty
Lots of companies now doing groceries on demand. Uber Eats, Deliveroo do them, plus specialists like Gopuff and Getir.
Do you use them? Which ones are good and which ones should be avoided?

The Empire of Evil has partnered up with Morrisons, used them a couple of times and been totally unimpressed, both times lots of stuff was missing though had no problems getting refunds.
We use Tesco home delivery or click and collect a lot and they are usually very good though getting a delivery slot if you opt for delivery isn't easy usually have to wait 2 or 3 days to get one

Not really talking about supermarket deliveries, which you book in advance. More about when you get things delivered ASAP.

getir, gopuff, gorillas are all still active and fine. others folded. Good for introductory offers but full price is priced for convenience (or I pay attention to prices more when written down in front of me). I probably have referral codes. No idea how they treat the drivers.

My preferred groceries-on-demand service is to walk to the nearest supermarket or convenience shop. Takes me about ten minutes there and back again.

I have used Sainsbury's Chop Chop when unwell quite a bit and it's a lifeline... although sometimes I think I would have been better off in the days when I would have had to conscript friends to do my shopping for me because at least people would have been coming round.

I've always wondered about the others but not tried them - at first they were only available in central London, and also I know Sainsbury's stock as they're my local. It's a limited selection available, with a fair old markup, and it's pot luck whether you get someone picking who will call you when something is unavailable and get you to choose a substitute, or whether only half your order turns up.

It is useful for "I need some toothpaste and milk and ffs will someone just bring me a sandwich because I can't even" moments.

Once my local shop closes for the evening, there's nothing within a mile of my place. So these services are pretty useful.

I have been using GoPuff as they deliver here and are based nearby. They are generally good. They have always got the orders right, and you can track the delivery so you know exactly when its arriving.

I’ve used Chop Chop too and like it.
For all of them I think it really depends on where they’re picking from. Tesco do a Whoosh service but they pick from my local Tesco Express so lower stock and selection.

Chop Chop is from my nearest large Sainsbury and they call you if something is out of stock and offer an alternative which is nice.

Think I’ve used Uber, Just Eat and Deliveroo at various points. It pisses me off to pay more for the stuff plus delivery.

I've used them when ill or hungover once or twice but they're very expensive and locally have a very limited range of items.

Just eat will deliver from sainsbury in my area
Handy when I'm working at home with a massively busy day into evening schedule, easy to get refund if wring item, better than the coop on demand service for missing items,

Chop chop deliver to me from that same Sainsbury's (the big one by the football ground).

Used deliveroo last night to deliver me 12 beers and some other bits as I was going to miss the nearest shop to me (which is a 15 minute walk) turned up within 30 mins and I think the beers are on special offer so it was cheaper than I expected.

I use Gorillas, usually when I have a £15 discount on £40 or more which makes my Friday Night Disco shop very cheap indeed as they let you include alcohol. Getir do discounts as welll but no booze. Not used any of the others.

I find they are more or less corner shop prices, usually a little less, that is then balanced out by the delivery fee. (660ml of peroni is 2.75 as opposed to our local lads who charge 3.50).

They do also use smaller producers, you can get better meat than the supermarket, we get HG Walter butchers on our one.

Oh if anyone has a go at gorillas, they keep sending me the code FUNKY15 even though I've already used it so give it a go and see how you get on.

So Gopuff have stopped delivering to my area, which is quite annoying as they were pretty good. Where I live is semi-rural so my other options are limited.
