Songs that reference other musicians.

Nah. According to Wiki:

The song's lyrics were written by Mark Knopfler on a rainy day in a bar in Ipswich. Their inspiration came from his witnessing a mediocre jazz band playing in the corner of a practically deserted pub. At the end of their performance, the lead singer came up to the microphone and announced that they were the "Sultans of Swing."

Ipswich? Suddenly, my respect for the song has risen anew. :D

Mr. Cave's A Window Cleaner Now

I looked up a list of songs mentioning Elvis and Bryan Adams has one called "Hey Elvis" - and Billy Ray Cyrus covered it. :(

Specifically, Jay-Z...

Starts with a sample of 2-Pac saying "Fuck Jay-Z", ends with "How much of Biggie's rhymes is gonna come out your fat lips?"

Whomp. There it is. :D

Three proper rock outs for you.

Guru Guru - Bo Diddley

The Fall - I am Damo Suzuki

John Mayal - John Lee Boogie

Negativland - Michael Jackson

I think that wins the thread in terms of sheer quantity. Not really a song, though.
