Having pancakes on Shrove Tuesday is a bit like waving 2 fingers in the air if you do not abide by the sacriledge of Lent ..... Hypocritical some might say

I have pancakes on pancake day, buns with an earth cross (or without) as well as chocolate bunnies and eggs for Ostara, an xmas pud around midwinter, and a freshly baked loaf at Lammas - Pagan but culinarily christian, so fucking sue me.

So what are you all giving up for Lent being as you are partaking in 'pancake day'?

I had 3 and I feel really sick. I don't even really like them, I just use it as an excuse to buy Nutella. [emoji33]

A word to the wise: Nutella mixed half and half with whipped cream makes a quick and easyish (not to mention v unhealthy) chocolate filling for cakes and biscuits.

Meanwhile, strange goings on with my Swedish cousins, who were eating these yesterday for semmeldagen.
They are somewhat envious of our pancakes though.

They looked really nice until I googled and found they're made with almond paste, which I think would be a little too close to marzipan for my liking.

I've introduced some Eastern Europeans to the delights of lemon and sugar recently. After the initial confusion and "what, no jam?" I was told they were the best pancakes they'd ever had
