So, Shrove Tuesday, eh?

I managed 7. That's a new personal best for a fair few years tbh. 3 with ham, cheese and sweet corn and 4 with lemon and sugar. And a bit of stolen one with Nutella and banana.

I can't breathe. Nor will need to eat for a day or two

I had 3 and I feel really sick. I don't even really like them, I just use it as an excuse to buy Nutella. [emoji33]

2 savoury and 3 sweet.

1 with lemon and sugar.
1'with stewed mixed berries, raspberry ice cream and a drizzle of Nutella.
1 with Nutella.

Completely forgot it was pancake day today >_< We've got all the ingredients (including a big bottle of Proper Maple Syrup Like) apart from lemons so it's a no-go for now but seeing as this isn't a strictly religious household we'll have a Sermon On The Mountain Of Pancakes (SOTMOP) this weekend no doubt.

I found them brittany ones a bit too savoury for my liking. Very cheap and filling though. Brittany is a strange place, its not like normal france. They have bagpipes

Brettonian pancakes come in two versions - the regular sweet crêpe and the savoury galette, made from buckwheat flour (my preference would be a tartiflette galette). Brittany is kind of a weird mish-mash of Cornwall meets Belgium (beer and cider traditions especially, very little in the way of wine). Highly recommended for a jaunt B)

I'm gonna have at least six. gotta wait though, cos my flatmate came in and started cooking with the pan i'd just put on the hob, even though i had it all set out.

But pancakes for the purpose of pancake day are always 'those thin things' that the French call crepes.

I'm sure it's been said before :D but French crepes are (slightly) different than tradtional (not drop scone) pancake day pancakes. They're lighter and thinner.

Pancake ingredients - flour, eggs, milk, salt.
Crepe ingredients - flour, eggs, milk, water, melted butter, salt. :)

.... but it is a self test of willpower.

I never bought in to it until an ex boss got me to test myself, and I do find it a good way of doing that.

In the supermarket today they had loads of that drop scone in a plastic bottle mix on their PANCAKE DAY stand and nothing else. It made me sad

I'm not even going to 'like' that :(

I didn't have any pancakes today. I do have pancakes, crepes and drop scones often throughout the year though.

Having pancakes on Shrove Tuesday is a bit like waving 2 fingers in the air if you do not abide by the sacriledge of Lent ..... Hypocritical some might say ;)

I like American buttermilk pancakes more than the thin things we have here. I like those too. But I prefer American buttermilk pancakes.

With bacon, and eggs, and potatoes, and butter, and that weird whippy stuff, and maple syrup, and butter.
