That's a filthy lie - there's the "French shower" of walking through a cloud of very recently sprayed deodorant. They don't waste their time on showering though.
Ever.

So why are people banging on about it being better to fly if the thread is about Sleeper Trains
Cheap deals are available if you book in advance.Brilliant! Let's really compound the expense of an already stratospherically priced ticket!
Train tickets can be booked in advance, from the comfort of your home if you want.especially if you need to piss about getting a ticket at the train station). You still just "turn up and go".
You're the one that started on about trains to from London to Edinburgh. There are no sleepers on that route. But this thread specifies the Sleeper. There's a clue in the title.
And your point was again....?Really? And there was me thinking that the French cheated by using teleportation.
Because the title poses a question: "any good/worth doing?".
To answer it one needs to evaluate the alternatives.
You still need to obtain a ticket for the plane.

A few TOCs issue e-tickets on your phone. Not a physical one you don't. In fact for IATA airlines you haven't been able to have one even if you wanted for about 10 years now.
Uk, no there aren't.Yes there are.
So do some TOCs. E tickets are a bit naff though. What happens if something happens to your phone? You're stuffedNo you don't!
Your "ticket" can be sent to your phone
You're 10 years behind the times.
You're comparing apples with oranges, as I already pointed out.To illustrate the efficiency of Eurostar.

Yes. That's what I just said isn't it? Chiltern is one. I'm not sure about others. East Coast offer Print@Home tickets.O'rly? In the UK?
Now you're being silly. You could lose it, it could break, you could run out of power, it could be stolen. Any number of issues could occur. What happens if your sleeper train is hijacked by flesh eating zombies called Trevor?????

Chiltern are cheaper.Oh that's useful, London to Birmingham only, when anyone travelling that route would use Virgin Trains
No, but it is convenient. What's so great about e tickets in particular?Print at home is not e-ticket.
OK I made a mistake. And enough of the "That's what I just" said attitude, unless you'd care to explain what you meant when you just said that there is no sleeper service from London to Edinburgh?
Chiltern are cheaper.

You're just not real Urbanz. What happens if your sleeper train is hijacked by flesh eating zombies called Trevor?????
It's not that much slower:And much slower, in 20 years of flogging train tickets I have NEVER been asked for one on that route
Neither do P@H tickets.they don't need posting or delivering.
How does any of that apply to train tickets? You can call your travel agent as your taxi pulls up at the airport and by the time you get to check in your ticket is issued and you don't need to queue up at the ticket desk to collect a TOD which you then take to a check in desk and the travel agent doesn't need to fill out endless MPDs and phone shite airlines whose systems can not accept MPDs for TODs via a GDS. And so on.
You seemed unclear as to what I said so I clarified it for you. This one: Yes. That's what I just said isn't it?
No.Are you really old, Bungle?
How does any of that apply to train tickets?
It's not that much slower:
Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill 1h 55m
Euston to Birmingham New Street 1h 25m

We talking about how e-tickets are the "best" form of ticket, this thread is about train travel, and you just regurgitated a list of initialisms to do with air travel I have no idea what they mean (apart from TOD, which I assume is the same as a railway TOD, ie Ticket on Depature), and which have no relevance to the railway.
So how come in 20 years of selling train tickets have I never been asked for one? In factthe only time I have seen one is when one of my idiot colleagues issued one by mistake for someone and we had to swallow the cost of the replacement.
No one wants to spend 25% longer than necessary getting to Birmingham.

I asked how e-tickets are better, in relation to rail travel, since that is what this thread is about.No. You said that one needs to have a ticket for a flight. I just explained that that is not the case.
ORLY?
Bungle73 said:Then I guess the new trains on the route, combined with the line upgrades were a waste of time then?
They do if it's substantially cheaper.
