shes fighting with Simon Cowell now, and some blueshirt politician has had to apologise for calling her mad as a brush on twitter, even though he was agreeing with her.

There's a whole bloody lineage of well-informed, well-represented young female music stars, often with similar child-actor pasts, going open-eyed into this sort of performance, and frankly, why wouldn't they, if they've grown up believing themselves to be a commodity, in a culture where commodification is the sine qua non of the entertainment media?

It's worked very well for the Catholic church as a mode of social control of women. So, it's done plenty for them, the crow bastards.

I've lost count of the number of times I've heard the "culture" excuse wheeeled out because some arsehead won't write outside of their vernacular (probably because they're worried about sounding like a "sociologist" :p ). It's laziness and arrogance that has fuck-all to do with their home-culture.

jus wanna say that the only reason i mentioned studying sociology is cos some of the earlier posts reminded me of the overworded stuff i remember reading in a sociology textbook....where you look for the meaning but its shrouded by words. Then you ask yourself whether it has any real meaning or is it just hot air? I didnt mean 'i studied this so i know more than you - are you having a laff??' OMG - absolutely not!:D

thanks to ms spangles for explaining her earlier point that i asked her to about Miley Cyrus image and stuff though. I get what she meant (her explanation was much better) :)
 
Other than ironic gay men surely Smiley Virus and other singers in slutathon outfits like Rhianna are not even marketing their records to a male audience?

Its not as if they have to pose in the Daily Star to pay the rent so maybe its just to move up the pecking order for space in national media outlets.

Possibly better if it didn't have tour dates on the bottom.
Must be hard to transition from child star, but as with any adolescent trying to prove they are grown up tend to simultaneously prove they aren't that grown up.

However 20.is that the new adolescent? I have mates who were married with kids at that age

yeah, that's what I was wondering too... But still, at least they made the effort :D

Reading Sinead's latest letter: quite grim to see this being turned into an attack into Sinead's mental health, really messed up... Hope the stress of all this doesn't affect her too hard.

She's had tense times before. I remember talking to her after one particularly distressing fax (this was back in the 90s) about custody & she came across as a humourous, highly intelligent person. She has been punished for over 2 decades now for being an articulate, intelligent woman who is not afraid to speak her mind. And to some folk (male) that's a red rag to a bull.

Dear G-d, a k-a-h post with which I am in full agreement.
 
I have a massive soft spot for Sinead. Never forget first time I saw 'nothing compares 2 U' on tv :oops: I was 18! (I don't even mean I fancy her, just thought she was sooooo cool!)
 
That's upsetting and just demonstrates how fucking woeful our mental health service is.
