Some are better than others. Outrage + Optimism, for example, is really annoying: it’s high powered climate advocates who go to COP type meetings then get annoyed that it doesn’t work. Lol.

I only have three:

Deutsch Mit Schmidt. Very short episodes that are just about two words per episode in advanced German. The host is excellent and makes it more fun than my description makes it sound, and I've learned loads.

Ladies Who London. Podcast about London history. One of the hosts was annoying enough that I stopped for a while (she kept getting facts wrong, explaining extremely basic stuff, and mispronounced loads of words in an annoying way) but she's left now.

The History of English podcast by Kevin Stroud. About the language, not the people.

Will give it a go, denn ich liebe Deutsch.

Are podcasts free and can you get them on any device or just iPod?
I use Podbean on my iPhone, but you can use other platforms, including Spotify. The reason for subscribing is to be notified when new episodes arrive. (I sometimes listen to the odd episode of podcasts I don’t subscribe to, and I don’t always listen to every episode of the ones I do subscribe to).

If you have a smartphone it probably has a native podcast app.

I listen to most of mine via Amazon music. I only do that because I have an unlimited music account (half price with a "student" ID) but the ones I listen to are on loads of platforms. ie Spotify.

Sometimes there are ads. None on Deutsch Mit Schmidt (think he makes his money back by people buying his language books, plus his patreon) or The History of English (no idea - patreon or just being rich, maybe) and the ads on Ladies Who London aren't a big deal.

Used to listen to several of the ones Fozzie Bear has. I’m trying not to listen to politics atm though. Plus they tend to get samey. The David Harvey one for example is good in small bursts, but once you’ve heard six…

I listen to loads but I can’t find an easy way to screenshot them based on how the iPhone displays them. A lot of them are about rugby and hence of limited interest to most sensible people. Also a lot of bbc radio 4 podcasts as I rarely get to listen to the shows at the time they’re broadcast.

I do listen to a podcast about civil engineering as I used to work for a company that was involved with big civil engineering projects and the presenter is someone I know from having done marathons with back in the noughties.

Some I don't listen to at all but that's the list. Plus the ones on BBC sounds (Lazarus Heist the main one at the moment)

A heady mixture of serious and trivial stuff. "You must Remember this" is one of my favourites of all times, deep dive into Hollywood movies/history. The Lolita podcast is no longer live but was also one of the most interesting ones of the bunch.

I subscribed to Mark Maron's WTF but never actually listened to a whole episode. They are sooooo loooooong and I don't care about interviews with famous people that much. So I'm unsubscribing right now!

If you have gmail/google account, you can use Google Podcasts too. As good as any of the others... I have Android phone and so it's part of the package as it were (i.e. having a gmail account integrated with the phone)
