Should I watch Gavin and Stacey from the beginning?

Like I said, I have seen an episode or two. And it's terrible.

Seriously, I do find it concerning when apparently intelligent people actually find this kind of thing worth watching.
Do you like Two Pints of Lager?

No, I find it the lowest common denominator laugh free zone. But Gavin & Stacey makes me laugh. It's not cutting edge but it's amusing. I also enjoyed The Young Ones when it came out - hardly intelligent comedy but I appreciated the comedic value of people hitting each other - that's never going to go out of fashion. Gavin & Stacey has a large cross over appeal - I wouldn't expect all its audiences are into the comedy I'm into but hey, I like different kinds of comedy.

For instance; I laugh like a drain over "Oh! Mikey" - a Japanese comedy but I doubt many of the core G&S fans would appreciate it...

Sorry, but IMHO they are worlds apart in terms of comedy value.

Each to their own, but Little britan was funny for about a nanosecond, I have laughed many times watching Gavin n Stacy.
Maybe your upper class and i'm lower class, and that makes a comedy difference?

:D

You seem to have missed my point, which was that while Gavin and Stacey is unfunny shite (IMO, obviously), Little Britain is about fifty thousand miles below the bottom of the barrel and I would pay good money to see the pair of them publicly flogged.

I put G&S in the same category as Two Pints.

I have liked Rob Brydon in other things. I enjoyed Marion and Geoff a lot.

But you put them in to the same category, I dony find LB at all funny.

I find G&S funnier

Its like comparing the bulger murderes to sadam H :p

I think maybe you should give it another go, because there must be a screw loose in yer noggin if you think G&S is in any way on a level to that dribble o' shite called Two Pints.

SI understand this is the last series, is it worth investing a little time to follow the whole thing through from the beginning?
Yes!!

I like the old Welsh lady next door best.
She is funny as fuck. :D

Yes. Alison Steadman and Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones are worth it.
Yep. And old welsh neighbour mentioned above, imo :)

He's only funny when he's writing with Ruth Jones.....
Ruth Jones is brilliant.

No, there's a screw loose in anyone's noggin who bothers watching either of them.

Or maybe just fewer screws generally.

First series was ok/good, though a festival of cliches.

Then it drags on...lost me ages ok.

The West/Shipman joke is truly pathetic though.

Says the poster who tries to work Mandela and Hitler into the argument :D

You don't like G&S. Fair enough. But you seem to take it as a personal afront that anyone else could.

So much so, that you attribute mental illness to those who have a broad taste in comedy. Now that's funny...

Yes, definitely. I think its reputation may have suffered from Horne & Cordon's terminally unfunny post-G & S show.

I think Gavin & Stacey is hilarious - unlike many people I don't think Rob Brydon is the best bit (although he's good), I think that's the sparring between Cordon and Jones in the early episodes, and each is a brilliant comic creation.

Series 3 already has the hallmark of not being as good as the first two, but still well worth a watch.

The Stacey character makes me want to kill all welsh. Am I the only one?

'Nessa and Smithy almost save it IMO. Make a series out of them and I'd watch it.

Yes, worth watching from the start.

I think it might be funnier if you are/know someone well from Wales. My wife's aunt *is* Gwen and her uncles a composite of Bryn in many ways. Whether it's a prerquisite for it to be funnier I dunno - Welsh people, what do you think?

If you are/know someone from Essex as well then it becomes funnier still I think.

But, yes, it's worth a few hours spent watching. It's not like it goes on for hours and hours or anything.

Virtually 10 years to the day since my last post on this thread

I always found it a bit cringe, though it'll be interesting to see Corden back in character now he's become a big time LA cleb an all.
