Should I watch Gavin and Stacey from the beginning?

London_Calling

Pleasant and unpatronising
Saw S3E1 last night - not seen the show before. Obviously a considerable back-story, quite liked the Essex/Barry idea even if some of the family stuff seemed a little tired.

I understand this is the last series, is it worth investing a little time to follow the whole thing through from the beginning?

Weird....

About five mins ago a bloke in work asked if I watch Gavin and Stacey.
I told him I had never seen it and he told me to watch from the beginning.

So I think 'yes' is the answer here :)

It's worth watching, yeah. There are some good comedic moments.

I like the old Welsh lady next door best. :)

no.
i like a lot of bad tv, but gavin and stacy always seems like it falls sort.
should have been loads funnier than it actually is.

Its not bad. The first series is probably the best. Second series tries a bit too hard. Last nights was alright.

Bryn is a fucking genius comic creation. In fact most of the welsh lot are very good. Except Stacey, who is the most annoying TV character ever.

No. Watch the first series and then stop.

It was an OK programme, likeable enough, but ran out of steam. It certainly isn't the big think the BBC seems to think, and it isn't nearly as good as Cordon thinks it is.

Definately worth watching from the first episode,
over most of the other shite on tv.
Record it and watch it when Britans got Xfactor bollox is on - 1 stone, 2 birds etc

While were at it, other recomendations are:
Skins
The Inbetweeners
Shameless
Cast Off
Benidorm

what not to watch..:
Xfactor
BGT (although my nice is gonna be apearing on it, so you gotta vote when I tells ya)
Eastenders
Emmerdale (what happened to the farm?)
Corrie

From what I've seen of it (a few bits here and there, unintentionally) it's an absolutely horrific load of tired cliched unfunny irritating tosh which makes me feel like smashing up the telly.

But various people who usually have reasonably good taste seem to like it. So either I am mixing it up with something else, or lots of people are simply wrong and I am right.

I just looked it up on youtube to make sure I wasn't mixing it up with something else. No, I wasn't. It's awful. Here they are tackling the totally original subject of the dodgy estate agent. Truly breaking new ground.
To compare it with Peep Show is an insult.

I said I can happily watch this alongside Peep Show.

I didn't say it was the same thing.

It's like saying you'd happily invite both Nelson Mandela and Hitler to a dinner party.

Might be a bit difficult given that one of them's been dead for 60 years.

I like a bit of variety. I usually give shows a chance and watch an ep or 2 as opposed to watching a clip on HateTube...

It beats the shit out of fucking Little wanking Britan, and that seems to have a HUUUUGE following of twats who find the same jokes repeated every week funny ;)

More importantly, Cordon isn't nearly as good as Cordon thinks he is.

I endorse this post.

That's like saying you'd rather step in dogshit than step in the pissed-on guts of a murdered hooker.

Like I said, I have seen an episode or two. And it's terrible.

Seriously, I do find it concerning when apparently intelligent people actually find this kind of thing worth watching.
Do you like Two Pints of Lager?

Sorry, but IMHO they are worlds apart in terms of comedy value.

Each to their own, but Little britan was funny for about a nanosecond, I have laughed many times watching Gavin n Stacy.
Maybe your upper class and i'm lower class, and that makes a comedy difference?

:D
