Shitting in the street, a.k.a. Street defecation

Is this a problem in London? Is this a problem anywhere in the UK?

The reason I ask is because of a right wing tosser locally (Reform UK), who maintains that this is now commonplace, because of immigration naturally. Is this now an everyday racist meme? Do many people believe this? Or is my local bigot just a one-off?

went in to my office in Birmingham before Christmas to find a human shit on the stairs up to the staff entrance. just off the street and nothing really screening them from being seen. a colleague checked the cctv but couldn't find them.

The number of public toilets fell by a fifth in just six years, your local bigot would have to be exceptionally thick to be blaming immigrants. From 2021:

According to Freedom of Information data obtained by local government researcher Jack Shaw and shared with the Observer, the number of public lavatories that local authorities have funded and maintained fell from 3,154 in 2015/16 to 2,556 in 2020/21 – a drop of 19% across the past six years, which comes on top of reductions in previous years.

Public health workers have warned that this loss of public conveniences is now causing major problems for a range of people, including the homeless, disabled, outdoor workers and those whose illnesses dictate frequent toilet use.

A few years back there was (probably still is) an 'issue' with street homeless people around Victoria who frequented the large day centre on Carlisle Place crapping on or near the doorsteps of those million pound flats off Victoria Street and Horseferry Road. Andrew Bridgen MP called for a clearout of all the 'undesirables' in the area, the nasty cunt.

If its more common it's because of the rise in being homeless and lack of public facilities. Remember when there were public baths (I don't mean swimming pools) I remember going to one near Homerton when I was squatting in Hackney in the 80s.

It's not a problem because of immigration, or even homelessness / drunkenness etc per se ...

It is a problem because the local councils have been "saving money" by closing public toilets - usually for £££ reasons hidden behind "other" reasons.
And that has been happening nationwide.

This all happened in the 80s didn’t it rather than recently. They’ve since installed some pop up urinals in London (in the news recently as a maintenance worker was killed by one) but not sure how that helps women or anyone needing a shit.

No, closing toilets is still a thing in a lot of areas.
I refer you to #8 upthread
Fair enough. I haven’t been aware of any for years. There's some in King’s Cross and Euston stations that don’t charge money anymore. The one at Kings Cross had a cop stationed outside of it the other day though.
