Ha, he does look nervous. I actually wish he and Mal were a little MORE nervous around Breeze, just in case. He sleeps with his eyes open at the best of times though

Here's some pictures of Bill and Ben, two seven year old brothers (fitches/polecat marking). We've been fostering them since November 2011. In their former lives they used to go touring the country as racers/PR ferrets. Lovely boys but totally unused to other ferrets when they arrived. It took us a year and half to integrate them and its only recently that the others will play with them. Ben is still stand offish. Ben is a ham. Sits in your arms and bats his eyes at you. Bill is an explorer and great on walks.

Last year Bill escaped and picked a fight with next door's terrier. He lost. I had to prize the terrier's jaws apart to let him out. He had massive bruising and a hernia and I really thought we were going to lose him. But he's recovered and is back to his old self. He's actually gunning for a rematch. If we'd let he'd march straight back over there.
Could be mites- easy to treat. Or stress... Less soCatisthenics last night on the bed. Taking her to vets next week as I think she's been licking her lower torso and back legs a bit threadbare for the last few weeks for some reason
Poor Ben died of suspected lymphoma on Sunday. Under the weather and very underweight all last week -on steroids and high energy food. Took him to the vet on Saturday for updates and new medicine and actually went for a walk in the woods by the vets with him. He seemed happy that day. Pottering about snorkling through the leaves and he had his head out of the window on the way back home. Sunday was another matter. Any food including liquid food causing him visible pain. He could barely move. Took him for his final visit to the emergency vet Sunday evening. I know it sounds corny but brother Bill is wandering round like a lost soul. Before he came to us he spent most of his life along with his brother going to corporate events and ferret racing and dancing for crowds. The gentlest ferret you could imagine, people would hold him and fall in love with him.
eh thats hard, but hehad a good life- better that than a drawn out horrible half life of illness.

Great picture
I love jack Russells. They are all lunaticsI got him a stovepipe hat and a monocle but he ate them. Tank eats things.

Sorry, that face looked JR.this particular bastard is a parsons terrier with the chest/shoulders of pride and muscle that suggests staffy somewhere in his lineage. He's got all the attitude of a terrier but is scaled up a bit. Knee biter rather than ankle biter.
I've grown up with collies you see so am totally used to servile hounds that exist only to get praise from me. Tank doesn't give a flying fuck about praise. When you catch him eating a bin he will look at you briefly then start eating quicker so as to get the most value before you drag him off it. With the collies you could just walk in and they would quiver in the corner in knowledge hat they are being a Bad Dog. Tank just doesn't care. He's Nietzsche with a snout

He sounds quite a character.... I like hounds so like you am used to a bit more obedience.
I don't know why that reminded me, but...Parsons and JR are pretty much indistinguishable save for the size. We thought we had a JR but it just kept growing and eating.
He kept going 'I'll fucking kill him' and punching the table. She said it was quite scary, and only funny in retrospect...epic fail

the pic is complete now with bulging chest muscles and evil claws etc but here is how it was when it was a work in prog:

I don't know why that reminded me, but...
Mate is a vet. She volunteers in a blue cross centre, and a guy came in with a Rottweiler puppy he'd bought from a guy in the pub that wasn't growing and wasn't eating.
It was a Black and Tan guinea pig

So sorry to hear this and hope he didn't suffer too much or too long. Will Bill be ok on his own? Is it possible to introduce another companion or is that just not a thing with ferrets.
Ah, so ferrets sound alot like humans then! It's good he won't be completely on his own and there might be hope he can find a close buddy again.Ferrets are cliquey little animals. Bill has been accepted by the main group so he has lots of company but he probably won't play with them or (most of them) with him. Sandy and Millie might mother him if he starts getting too pathetic and Toby will play with him although I'm not sure if he trusts any of those enough to let them. With a bit of luck he will bond with Flapjack who used to be his and Ben's worst enemy but now seems taken with him.
The cone of shame.
She's got to wear it till Friday, that's when she has her stitches out. The vet said to keep her calm but seriously, she's a lab, there's no hope!
