I don't have a problem with the comments about China/Taiwan. Probably a bit heavy handed but about right otherwise. I think there is a small extant ethnic Taiwanese population whose rights have long been suppressed by both the Chinese and the Taiwanese Chinese. As I understand it, Taiwan is mainly Chinese and its independence is predicated on opposition to the Chinese state not on being a distinct nation in its own right.

i have been patiently trying to explain that Waters is not the total c word that some imagine him to be. maybe my unawareness of the c word policy is not much of a defence though. so possibly it would have been better for me to change the basis of the whole argument from one about Waters to one about c word use. i dont know.
