RIP Nicholas Parsons

I went to a barn dance hosted by Nicholas Parsons at the Edinburgh Festival about twenty years ago. I know. He was very sweary and funny off the cuff that night.

Loved JAM. RIP.

Just a Minute is one of the Radio Four shows that you couldn't help listening to if it came on while you were gardening or just putting the radio on. 50 years on one radio show! He never sounded remotely old. I'm amazed that the voice I heard in the last few years was of a man in his 90s.

Old man dies - there's an inevitability about it.
Bloody good innings thoroughly nice bloke. It genuinely appears noone has a bad word to say about him.
Well done!
Good egg!
Cheers well done Nick, sadly missed etc etc

Sale of the Century was a HUGE show , it was must see TV , which says a lot about our choices as TV watchers at the time (3 Channels :D )

It was ITV, wasn't it? I never saw it.

We were a BBC family.

Not only were there only three channels, but people were snobbish about which one to watch. :D
We basically watched what Dad wanted to watch , so saw a lot of horse racing on a Saturday afternoon, he liked ITV in the evening, til the BBC news at 9. Sometimes he fell asleep and we'd switch channels , and he'd immediately wake up, roar at us , switch channels back (well we had to go over to the telly as he would refuse to get off his sofa , we had one sofa) and then he'd fall asleep again #goodtimes
