Revamping horrible fitted cupboards

Everyone says it's easy but I really don't have a clue, and for the price of buying a power tool, feel like I may as well just pay someone to come for a day and do all of the little jobs I need doing at once.

Just had a quick look on those sites: look good. Bit depressing that they all earn more than me per hour. If only I were a little more handy myself I'd train myself up to do similar.
I really do think it’s worth having at least a drill at home even if you mostly hire people for jobs.

We needed one for an ikea unit recently which it definitely wouldn’t have been worth hiring someone for.

Of course....will probably be in about six months time though at this rate. Managed to get two of the hinge screws out and the others seem completely stuck. Knackered so needed an ice cream in the garden!

Fair play! Considering that you're still recovering from covid and the unbearably hot weather.

Eta. Out of curiosity....what ice cream?? 🤗

I liked the print, it was pretty. Just letting you know that shein has a strange idea of what a centimetre is!
Oh do they. There is a long running joke in my knitting group about the tape measures from a batch of little knitting tool kits someone got off ebay from China and gave to everybody.

The centimetres were OK but they'd just made the inches up. This was only discovered during a fierce row about the size of some blanket squares for a communal blanket....

"It's definitely 6 inches!!!"
"No it's not!!!"

Oh dear. I can imagine it got quite heated...

So after hours of lying on the sofa, I went up to tackle cupboards again. Yuck, the amount of dust and dirt in just one of them :( Took the mostly rotten boards up off the bottom and cleared what I could with a dustpan and brush. Not the best thing to do with covid and asthma but it's done now and figured it's better gone than lingering at the bottom in the room where I sleep.

I've now managed to take 4 screws (of 6) off one single door. It's really hard work. This really might take years.

We're in a similar situation. No decorating has been done in the house for decades. One room has been unused for about 45 years, and was last decorated pre WW2.

We're currently experimenting with colour in the large bathroom. This is where we're at just now.

The green doors will be painted the dark blue, the pale green wall light blue, the wood surround in high gloss brilliant white. It's only till the whole bathroom get renovated.

I'll follow this thread for ideas. We've another nine rooms after this.

We should maybe have a dedicated thread for people who want to screw up perfectly OK mid/late 20th century decor, so those of us of a more sensitive disposition can choose not to subscribe to it.

(((teuchter)))

One wonders if blue shades might be a bit cold in a scottish bathroom.
Good point. Living here we've a lot to learn still. (I'm still trying to get the hang of people I've never met knowing me, knowing my name, and talking to me in the street. It's a small village.)

This reminds me. I am now getting the Modern House emails you mentioned and they are a joy, a slightly hate-filled shameful joy but still. Thanks for the tip.
