Rebellion punk festival in Blackpool

pray tell what dodgy band he's in?
Lets try battle zone(remember them, trev),or first strike for starters eh?Then there's the questionable templars and the questionable stomper 98.Course it depends on your definition of dodgy.Do you think close shave or condemned 84 are dodgy?

So, you've waited till you thought i was banned before responding(a cunts trick),and then provided no response to any of the points that were made...Over to you ,trev...Pray tell, do you think there's more of this enabling fence sitting shite,or do you think it's the tip of the ice berg.Oi oi

Trev, your mates sound well dodgy, and I'm not into this scene at all really :(
In all fairness to trev,he's not alone by any means. This band and the drummer we're talking about have become a wee bit of a cash cow on that particular scene, and there's a load of people who should know better turning a blind eye to this crap.In germany they've even come up with a name for this kind of stuff,it's called the greyzone and there's been ongoing debates/rows about it for years now.S 98 are one of the best examples of this carry on.I'm sayin this because i don't reckon trevhagl is gonna come back on it...hasn't a leg to stand on imo.
Their music is absolute crap by the way,and as for the lyrics...

Thanks for that, good info.

I've liked trev on here generally, so I didn't like having to criticise his evasiveness.
Evasiveness is how these bands are dealing with the issue...It's not their fault that they mix with dodgy fuckers or wear/ sell dodgy tshirts or sing dodgy songs. It's everyone else's for pointin it out.

Just in case anyones interested these are the lyrics of a song called "red scum",a song by first strike, one of the bands that our wee drummer boy plays/played for

Commie bastards dressed as skins
In this struggle you won't win
Nazis and commies you're all the same
You'll find out this aint no game
Red scum
Red scum
Red scum
Red scum

No red flags in the sky
We say hang those bastards high
No red flags in the sky
Soon you're gonna fucking die
You got no american pride
Now you better run and hide
Love for the nation you don't know
Under the boot you will go

Note the establishing of their "anti-politics" credentials in the 3rd line...get out clause.
I've not mentioned the blokes name because all this is easily googleable ( now trevhagl let the cat out of the bag) and he's a fuckin ego maniac who'd probly find it and it's another notch for his notoriety...When there's money to be made advertising's advertising

had a bit of time so i read this, pretty interesting.
http://nomattimen.wordpress.com/201...d-cult-the-argument-about-oi-band-stomper-98/
the music is absolutely unbelievably bad.
Fair play to ye rutabowa ,this is only some of the stuff that's out there.I can't read german but for anyone who can there is an interestin looking website that covers most of this stuff
oireszene.blogsport.de
there's a real battle goin on over it in germany at the minute. You're right the music is fuckin awful,oi/metal by numbers shite, without even decent lyrics to redeem it.Makes money though...

my (small) experience in the german punk scene has only been at the anti fascist squat/social club type venues so i have obviously only ever seen the opposite side! fanzines who do interviews are pretty quick to ask if you would ever share a bill with a right wing band or stuff like that so it seems to me it is pretty easy to make it clear early on if you wouldn't and then there's no problem as you won't get asked to do dodgy gigs and won't end up playing at what i would imagine are quite unpleasant shows. like i say i have only veyr small experience though

Like the rote flora in hamburg ye mean, places like that? It's still the same in those sorts of places. On a wider scale though it's the definition of right wing/dodgy that's become the problem.
As new generations come in,and gig organisers get better at it,the whole thing's become more commodified and life stylist orientated, and worth a lot more money.
Bands who couldn't get a gig 10-15 years ago are playin big multi band festivals to large audiences, like rebellion, and are startin to make a few quid, that's fair enough. It means that people aren't so prepared to speak out against dodgy shit for fear of splittin the"scene" and ruining a good thing. The problem is as long as you say you're not a racist or fascist, and you're not seiging you'll generally be put up with or defended,as a band you don't have to actually do anything, just tick the boxes.
Now,wankers like s 98 were sneering at and attacking vocal anti-fascist and sharp skinheads in the 80's-90's,not least because at that time some of them were either fascists themselves,or just starting to break with the fascist bonehead "movement",particularly sebi the lead singer and lars the bassist who both played with fascist bands around that time. The bassist played with endstufe, can't remember who the lead singer played with.
Since, they've done very little except bang on about how anti racist they are,and tried to walk both sides of the divide to promote their shite band. The lead singer in particular keeps gettin caught out doing this shit, consorting with old fascist mates being photographed in dodgy tshirts etc, probably sold to him by his mate the drummer, but people keep promoting them, buyin the records and whinging every time they're pulled on it."it's not fair they're anti racist" "you're jealous of their success" "sebi was set up" "look they've got trojan tats" "skinheads should stick together, they're tryin to divide us" "our detractors are all fuckin gay" and the classic"but look our drummer's black" blah blah. It's only a matter of time before the right wing fuckers they give access to the broader oi/punk spectrum start targeting and attacking people at gigs, because that's what they actually want access for...

Nothing wrong with unpleasant shows - some of them are the best! It depends what basis they happen on and who you're shoveling money to. I think trev needs to dig a little deeper here if this music really means that much to him. Bamalama has put him well right here and trev's responses have been...disappointing.

MUSIC means much to me but shite US hardcore bands trying to be Oi have never interested me that's probably why those lyrics above passed me by . I will actually agree with you's on this one. Won't ever see the day when YOU agree with someone else though!

didn't know anything about you being banned? It's me that's more likely to be banned in the long run . That article sounds dodgy but the bass player is dead sound , i have only met the others briefly , but you think Sunny Bastards would distribute their CDs if they were dodge?

Oh and i know of a few people who were dodge in the 90s and changed totally and are now top blokes , should i refuse to speak to them and try to make it the 80s again?

What did you do with them in the 90s? What changed them? People going oh well, let's ignore that shall we?

Makin it the eighties again is exactly what's happenin with this stuff, and i find it a bit suss that you're using very similar tactics to these people to avoid dealing with the big question marks around this stuff...fair play to ye for tryin though

I don't have much time now trev,i'm waitin for my wee clan to get back in then i'm daddin it.First off you keep using this word should...should i do this, should i do that. Can ye not decide for yourself what to do/ think by lookin at all the arguments info around this stuff that's about?
Nobody's sayin you should do anything...By the way i agree with people when i agree with them, not for the sake of agreement in and of itself, which is also part of the problem here.
There's a load of stuff in post 168 that you've just ignored...have ye talked to your mate about any of this, have you explained that you distribute their music and you need to be able to answer these questions when you're asked? Are ye not comfortable doin that,is he not comfortable giving you the answers? Are youse all dancin round each other or what?
As for sunny bastards, don't know much about them, looks like the usual anti-politics (which is in fact a political stand...) shite to me,but s98 are obviously providing most of the money for their operation judging from their website.
I don't expect everyone or the majority of people i meet to have the same politics as me,and i've also known some ex dodgy types, what's your point exactly...definitions of whats dodgy /not dodgy is the main point here

Some more lyrics from a song called the glory that once was,by another of the wee drummer boys' bands the templars

think about your country
lets bring back the glory it once was
lets build up our own industries
lets put our nation back on its feet
fuck trade wars we'll close our doors
fuck immigration we've got our own population

He also drums for battlezone (formerly based in chelmsford) when they play in america.Alex the lead singer (referred to in beating the fascists) is based in peru where he skipped to when blood and honour/c18 had their internal meltdown in the mid late nineties, presumably, and i am presumin this,to escape recriminations...
