Rebellion punk festival in Blackpool

There's a wee bit of discussion about rebellion on the "blaggers ita" thread and a bit more info on the "british oi and the anti politics music scene" thread...

someone mentioned some dodgy bands playing a few years ago (trev or josef perhaps?), although i think the organisers are more likely apolitical idiots rather than actually dodgy themselves.

dunno what john robb's excuse is. has anyone tackled him directly?

Youse boys seem to know the ins and outs of this stuff, why don't ye try and organise some sort of e-mail campaign?

Need to give them some time to respond mate - that said, few days clean up, few days celebratory boozing, i reckon they'll come round tmw

Could any of you that are going let me know what Ruts DC are like? If I can get a few quid together I'm going to that 3 chords festival and quite fancy a bit of a bounce around to Babylons Burning if they still play stuff like that.
Ruts DC are great if you like punky Reggae and yeah of course they always play Baylon is burning... There is a reggae punky party in Bristol in October and the Ruts are playing then-let me know if your interested and I will pm you details....reckon I might get Ground Elder and his missis up for it as well...

Cheers. I shall pop along to this thing in Penzance then if its sunny, I think. I've heard they're quite dubby these days which appeals.
yes they are and have a great charismatic new female singer...along with the original one.

they shouldn't have it in august - what's the point in having an indoor festival in blackpool in the season? they should have it in september or october when the B&Bs are cheap and it's less likely to be baking outside.

my thoughts entirely though i suspect its cos some people take the kids?

another good weekend though i missed most of the bands thru ducking and diving
some dodgy boozers , notice in The Castle EDL stuff scrawled all over the bogs , racism must be expensive these days £3.90 a pint for Stella!

surely not! there's not that many kids there, not enough for the organisers to make them a consideration?

not just the kids who are there but ones who aren't , school holidays and all that jazz .... i imagine people with families find it harder to get away in sept

Actually you are being a bit harsh here - Daz Russell stopped dodge bands playing the festival hence the dodge organised their own gig.

This was and probably is happening inside the festival. For what it's worth there is a well known black bonehead who has a huge collection of white power music and is well known for his backward rightwing views and lyrics,he's a yank

edit: one of the shite, fence sitting bands he drums for played london in the spring

and i know the bass player who is totally anti racist

Whose being harsh? I asked them if the holocaust denying freak who appeared in the literary tent was booked without knowledge of his views or if he was booked because they endorse his views. That's it. No shouting nazi at them.

That's pretty much what I emailed. Asked why he was there basically. No reply either.
