Rape, sexual assault and harassment in the entertainment industry

If corden was chocolate, he'd eat himself.(look up the baby on the airplane story.)

He's misjudged the situation. And unlike other more experienced hosts, I think he's not as much loved as he possibley believes he is.

Corden said: “I don’t know whether that groan was that you liked that joke or you don’t like that joke. If you don’t like that joke you should probably leave now.”

Emboldened, he continued: “It has been weird this week hasn’t it, watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water. Ask any of the women who watched him take a bath … it’s weird watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water.

“Harvey Weinstein wanted to come tonight but he’ll settle for whatever potted plant is closest.”

That joke prompted more groans. “Oh come on!” said Corden.

His reaction to the audience sounds a bit defensive. Maybe he'll think twice in future.

Yep, I'm all for kicking Weinstein when he's down but a better time to have joked about the potted plant stuff would have been before the rape allegations came out and when it's wasn't entirely clear that Weinstein was going to lose all power - not that many people did.

Despite the typical earlier denials, sounds like the company is flogging off its assets:

Weinstein company in deal to sell assets
The founder and executive chairman of Colony Capital, Thomas J. Barrack, Jr., said: "We are pleased to invest in The Weinstein Company and to help it move forward.
Wonder if 'moving forward' will involve getting rid of the rape fines Weinstein's company had for each of his rapey payouts?

Not funny and a total cunt.

I can subscribe to that. But tbf he'd also have been criticised for not mentioning it at a Hollywood bash, cos it would have made him part of the male industry wall of silence. So I'm not sure he's guilty of much more than being an unfunny cunt and doing it badly.

I don't think anyone would have criticised him for not bringing it up at an AIDS benefit. The criticism is about people who are keeping silent on the issue - they're not expected to talk about it every single time they're in public.

SNL is different because they cover current affairs so them not mentioning this would be weird. One of their jokes was fairly funny and neither made light of the situation. It's difficult to get that balance right, but that's why they're paid the big bucks.

Also, this bit here:

Corden said: “I don’t know whether that groan was that you liked that joke or you don’t like that joke. If you don’t like that joke you should probably leave now.”

Is a truly shitty thing to say at what is, like you say, a Hollywood bash, meaning that it's likely that some of the huge number of women Weinstein assaulted were actually in the audience, and they've literally just been told to leave if they don't like their assault being joked about.

Yes, you're a long way from wrong there.
