The only time I drank in there with any regularity was before they lost half of it to Pizza Hut - this would be back around 82 - 84, I think.

Damn straight. It used to be a great venue for breakthrough bands who weren't big enough for the Academy, but too big for any other venue in Brixton.

It's up against the Electric Ballroom, Garage, Scala and others. When they tried launch as a live venue a couple of years back their rental price was way too high (higher than those three stablished places charge) and anyway I think those three venues are probably better spaces.

Perhaps if no rent had to be paid for a certain period of time they'd be ok. But then some control freaks or politicos would probably come along and fuck it all up. I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this.
