Never said it was harmless, my point was that "drug offences" can cover anything from being found with an eigth of weed on your person to importing thousands of pounds worth of crack into the country. Not all drug offences are the same and you can't compare the destructive effect that smack can have on a community to the relatively minor impact that weed has on people's lives.

A lot of the drugs industry is intertwined with the sex industry, and my guess would be that most of the people at the top are people who I'd put into the bracket of "scum". I was reading only recently how some of the big drug dealers are now offering people free rocks of crack to get them addicted. And 1000s of women end up being pimped through drug dealers.

Most people I know of, or know through other people, who can be described as in any way "big time" are all nasty pieces of work with no real morals whatsover.

Good post. I know plenty of people that take drugs, who haven't had their lives fucked up. It's important to differentiate between types of drug taking.
